I will gladly volunteer my time and money to help whomever it may be. Van Jones???? if you're interested....

I am so loving it as I watch the Racist Repukes lose their cross-burning minds on a near daily basis based on nothing more than their hate of a man because of the amount of Melanin in his system. (insert John Bohner joke...wannabe bronzer reference).

http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HyyDHyAwI6k/SYSiDbi_nAI/AAAAAAAAEmk/cV6XUq1pvvk/s400/john+boehner.jpg

I wonder how much longer we will go before we hear cries of "n-word" from representatives on the reich or the rw radio. I cant wait for the further marginalization of the repukes based on their lunatic fringe that is now in control. Can you say "a generation of democratic control" boys and girls? I knew you could.

12. "To announce that there must be no criticism of the President,
or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public. Nothing but the truth should be spoken about him or any one else. But it is even more important to tell the truth, pleasant or unpleasant, about him than about any one else."

who decides what "the truth" is! To me, a lot of what people purport to be "the truth" are merely expressing OPINIONS and conjecture! Maybe this is so????????

19. Don't keep trying to make it more complex than it is.
Roosevelt said that thoughtful criticism of the president is to be expected in a democracy.

Yet, all these years later, on a forum called democratic UNDERGROUND (which implies very liberal thought!), many of us have had feces rubbed in our faces by supposed "progressives".

And that is just plain SHIT.

16. I couldn't agree more and I've been very critical of him myself on occasion
Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 06:56 PM by tularetom
but I'm talking about disrespect, not criticism.

Yes there was a lot of disrespect shown to the bush baby as well. But it was not condoned by the liberal media. It was marginalized by crediting it to a lot of "far left bloggers".

The disrespect shown to Obama by the lunatic fringe is given credibilty and legitimacy by our liberal media. A lowlife piece of shit like Glen Beck is portrayed as a respectable journalist.

No, criticism is fine. But this ain't it.

Edited on Fri Sep-11-09 09:26 PM by bobbolink
If you're talking about the shit from the right that Obama takes and swallows whole, you're right, and I agree.

What *I* was talking about is the crap that those of us who dare to criticize and be disappointed in Obama are getting from suppsed "progressives" right here in River City is exactly what Roosevelt was talking about.

And, "lunatic fringe" has been used right here on DU to describe some of us who worked for him.

and, that, indeed, is traitorous.

EDITED to say... Nope, you were indeed talking about US... you said how "WE'RE" treating him, which means WE, DUers and other "progressives".

So, no, you weren't talking about the RW, and that is what I took issue with you about.

Switching horses in midstream is dishonest.

And the quote from Roosevelt applies to your critical post.

23. When I say "we" I'm referring to the country as a whole
And that particular "we" are indeed treating him shamefully. Assholes like Wilson are doing it and the rest of us are letting it happen.

I never had one thought about criticizing anybody here on DU, and in fact I'm amazed that you were able to extrapolate that from a simple declarative statement I made.

I AM talking about the RW, but I'm also talking about people who fail to defend Obama against the bullshit coming from the RW. And by that I refer primarily to the liberal media (a term that should be such obvious sarcasm that I shouldn't have to display the little :sarcasm: thingy.)

If you feel guilty about being critical of Obama, don't project your guilt onto me. I'll criticizing him when I feel he deserves it but I'll defend him vigorously against the verbal farts of lowlife pieces a shit like Wilson.

And I still agree 100% with the Roosevelt quote.

37. When there is that much reading into words that aren't there, it's time to give up.
Far from "feeling guilt" for criticizing Obama, I not only feel justified, but, as Roosevelt said, it is not only my right, but my DUTY.

Take the guilt shit somewhere else.

And the two-bit psychobabble with it.

Bye now....

15. Chief Joseph's politics were heroic and fair - as were most of the Native
tenets of humanity, ethics, fairness and integrity. How lovely those in DC had them sign treaties they couldn't read (language/cultural difference), thus didn't understand and were called out for changing them after the fact by those who did understand.

Native americans were rounded up into smaller and smaller fenced in areas (one of which I have a small piece of - that I care for ferociously), and were killed in a "war" that never existed. I think Native Americans are too smart to acknowledge this idiocy... and they're well aware of the fact that they are viewed as an afterthought - an inferior group with the "facade" of respect because they can fill museums with beautiful craft and stories of beautiful philosophy.

Sorry - I digress...

The racism (don't be shocked - it never went away - we just pretended it did - shame on us) in this country, though, would make it awfully hard for anyone to be judged by the content of his or her character and not by the color of his or her skin, choice of religion, sexuality or anything else that is not "mainstream" pseudo-Rockwellian American (Sorry, Norman... ).

if they think Obama is a Marxist then they'd spontaneously explode if they got a little bit more of the high octane stuff because they are running out of words. In eight years we could run someone that would make Bernie Sanders look like Dick Shelby and no one would be able to discern it from their stupid whining.
People will be like, they said the last guy was a Marxist, Socialist, Commie and he seemed pretty middle of the road to me.

She's strong, smart, a great Mom with strong smart daughters herself. I just don't know if she would want the job either after seeing what this is doing to her husband and the way he has been treated by some stupid people in this country. What is scary is, those stupid people are also angry and have guns! I still fear for the safety of our President and his family with the growing climate of prejudice and anger in this country.

Unless he ends his term admired by all.

He hit a perfect storm. He played it well but the conditions were right for it to happen. Were the conditions not what they were I doubt we would have seen a black president for another 30 years.

He broke a barrier before it was ready to be broken one only need look at todays circus to see we are a long way off from an end to racism yet.
