Man who killed anti-abortion activist attempted suicide, today

Heard this on the local news, earlier, but couldn't find a link. Apparently, he managed a "serious gash" to his arm, and has been taken to the local hospital. Sounds like he will survive.

This is one of the weirdest stories I've ever heard of. A supposedly gentle, giant of a man suddenly decides to go on a killing spree?? Very mysterious. I keep waiting for some sort of shocking revelation.

1. It wasn't one of those random killing sprees apparently.

The latest stories say he had a hit list... with serious grudges against the victims and the one would-be victim.

I don't find it overly weird. These kind of murders seem to happen a lot. Or am I the only one who watches American Justice?

2. The people who know him are shocked

They can't really find a plausible bad blood link betwen him and the gravel pit owner. They were thought to be friends -- the gravel guy helped the shooter's mom set up a business. The intended victim, apparently, was perceived as having cheated the shooter's mom. As for the anti-choice guy being killed, this is no suprise. He could be VERY confrontational, and his signs were beyond disgusting. But, there doesn't seem to be any personal connections between the killer and victim.

Very, very shocking situation for such a small, rural town.

3. I'm sure it's very shocking to everyone who knew the victims/shooter and the town in general.

Reports say the shooter owned a business that went into bankruptcy in 2000 and has since been a long haul trucker, barely spending time at home.

Perhaps he's been troubled with mental issues, and/or the long hours on the road alone helped foment paranoid and angry thoughts.

I just meant, bigger picture, it's not that unusual when you consider this type of thing happens weekly it seems.
