Do fiscal conservatives ever challenge the legitimacy of military spending? |
|
Were there any signs from so-called tea-baggers today about the conflicts in Iraq or Afghanistan?
Why do most not seem to care how much is spent on something that ends human life and brings back no tangible benefits?

2. No, because the military kills people they don't like. |
|
Thier behavior is quite consistent once you realize race has something to do with it.
- Military spending to kill people they hate. = OKAY - Healthcare spending to help minorities and the poor = NOT OKAY - Any spending by a white republican = OKAY - Any spending by a black president = NOT OKAY

3. What? You mean the single LARGEST expense in the Federal Budget? |
|
Common Sense would dictate that SOMEWHERE, there would be a SINGLE FUCKING PROGRAM they'd be for cutting...

Military spending is fine by them because like most fascists they seem to have a fetish for all things military.

5. Never. War makes them feel all manly. |
|
They can always come up with trillions of dollars to kill brown people on the other side of the planet.
They just can't seem to find a single dime for us.

6. The only true fiscal conservative I can think of is Russ Feingold. |
|
He challenges projects on both the left and the right that he doesn't think we can afford. Sometimes he disagrees with the Democrats agrees with the Republicans. But he evaluates everything on its merits.
It seems like the right picks and chooses what is worth paying for by arbitrary standards. The military is a blank checkbook with an infinite number of checks. You'd think they would be the ones demanding a timeline for our military adventures but it never happens.

They don't mind spending money on things that they think are to their political advantage. So since they run a 'strong military' military spending, no matter how wasteful, is a-okay with them. Doesn't hurt that a lot of that money comes back to the party as contributions. Money spent on helping people is seen as liberal and helping the Democratic party so it is obviously wrong no matter how much good it actually does.

8. I'm pretty sure they believe in giving military spending a blank check. |
|
That and tax cuts. They never worry how those are to be paid.

9. I recall a GOP caller to CSPAN's Washington Journal... |
|
...back when the Iraq War was only a few years old. The discussion was about the cost of the war. This GOP caller said she didn't mind paying out a little more in taxes for the war if it would help all those people over there who have suffered so long.
It's befuddling how these are the same people who have been steadfast against foreign aid and are now teabagging against reforming health care to help people in their own country.

In last year's campaign, the fiscal conservative Ron Paul was more critical of military spending than any of the Democratic candidates running except Kucinich.
He is definitely the exception, however, and they wouldn't even let him speak at their convention.
