Rachel Maddow Quote:

MADDOW: It doesn‘t make sense anymore to talk about the relationship between the extreme fringe of the conservative movement and the modern Republican Party, because you can only discern a relationship between two things if you can tell those two things apart.

1. Interesting.
I'm sure she's referring to Congress and other elected representatives.

6. Actually not. Anytime anyone attempt to paint an entire group with a single stroke, that person is..
... in error. It's that simple.

You may hate Republicans, and she may, too. But her comment is far too broad to be accurate.

7. I think you were right the first time
After, level-headed rank and file Republicans who are dismayed with the radical bent of their
current crop of elected Congresspeople do beat down the doors to come on her show, or submit
reasoned commentary to distance themselves from their current "leadership."

I think her comment did, indeed, refer to the Republicans in Congress, and not those frustrated
Republican voters out there who long for the days when their party was epitomized by Jake Javits
and Everett Dirksen (if there are any left, that is).

2. Yep - party leaders are doing nothing to distance themselves from their sociopathic fringe. nt

5. At this point very true. The GOP in the house and the senate do vote in lockstep
with what they are being told to do by the right wing fringe. Those members do not think for themselves about policy. They follow the "agenda". Even though Tom Delay as whip is gone the GOP follow orders from the people who give them money. So why could anyone tell them apart from the right wing?
