While those on the right like to act like they care about the
most important founding principles of our nation, they appear to have problems with these, most basic:

Declaration of Independence, which states .. ""We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with inherent and inalienable rights; that among these, are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles, and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."

Constitution .. which tell us that "The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude."

There visceral hatred of the President, proves this. And, it can also be seen with their contempt for public education, separation of church and state, and their illogical support of oligarchy, which they don't seem to understand at all.

1. You have to remember
that when those words were written, it meant all men, who were wealthy white landowners were created equal.

African-Americans were 1/5 of a human (for census purposes) and women were not even that.

while it's too late at night to cite all my sources, it was actually written that broadly, to allow for change to come.

For example: when Jefferson was Governor of VA, he tried to get a bill passed to create public education. It failed miserably. But, as President, basing his actions upon this experience, he chose to support, privately (even though he was broke at the time), the creation of the Eastern and Western Academies to educate all public students. While the endeavors failed financially, the schools paved the way for the public education system we have today. I've done a lot of reading of the Federalist Papers, correspondences of the founding fathers, etc. I truly believe they were, for the most part, brilliant, moral persons who understood the limitations they faced in their time. But, still they tried to lay the best foundation they could for the country's future. However, most unfortunately, some of those who have followed have committed inexcusable transgressions against the spirit and intent of those founding principles - as well as misrepresenting their intent - for purely personal and/or political gain.
