I just can't stay mad at him.
His rally was nothing short of spectacular.
Ok. I'll shut up now and let him get on
with leading this country.

1. I can certainly stay mad at him. He's not a fucking puppy...
He's the president of the God Damn United States of America.

2. I know how you feel. However, that was BEFORE listening to him today.
I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt for a while longer.

5. He's dealing with 300,000,000 lives...
I don't give someone with that much power the benefit of the doubt. If we are in a position where we have to give him the "benefit of the doubt", god help us all.

I sometimes wonder if people take the political world seriously. This isn't a fucking game. If you are held captive by a speech, are you really paying that much attention?

I understand that addressing the public is an essential part of being a leader. But it shouldn't be used as a way of getting the people on your side. Get the people on your side by doing the right thing.

6. Well, if you want to crucify him, that's your perogative. I saw a different side of him today.

9. You saw him give a speech. What good are words when people are dying?
Do words help stop corporate greed? Do words end wars?

Did his speech reform campaign finance law? Did it bring torturers to justice?

His words did nothing.

Maybe I'm cynical because I'm inebriated. But I'm getting really fucking tired of the foreplay.

ridiculous. You think one man can change centuries of bad behaviour? Are you kidding me? You need to grow up if that's what you think.

16. I think it's funny that people somehow think Obama is above centuries of bad behavior.
He has been raised in the same political system that we all despise. Yet we idolize him.

20. Grow up? I'm suppose to grow up? Physically? Emotionally? Intellectually?
What am I suppose to do in order to "get it"?

When do I clock in and join the ranks?

I'm tired of the political structure.

18. Fucking brilliant, brutha...
are you SURE you're so young!?

This is one of the coolest statements I've ever read, young OR old. Damn. Nice job.

Especially "Get the people on your side by doing the right thing".

Has the President done this? Early on, I'd say "yes" with certain exceptions. If he hasn't addressed the wars further, the LBGT thing further, and completed the health care thing well, within a year, I'll certainly be willing to change my mind...

But for now, I'm okay. But DAMN that's a great statement you just made there bro. Definitely!

3. and that's what these speeches are supposed to engender...
"Aww, he's such a good guy afterall".... "He really has my interests at heart"....

How to manipulate people...

We're not seeing the action that goes with the words though... Obama is not walking the walk, but he is talking the talk.... And he sure is a very fine orator. Stay strong, don't get pulled into the vortex!

12. not likely that he's fighting back, sad to say... Read up on Jane Hamsher @ Firedoglake and Cenk,
and Pelosi and Reid now beginning to drop PO for co-ops and trigger. Lots of videos on PV with Cenk. Check them out.

We could be getting rolled.

bunch of other issues. "His words simply soared so high that I didn't even feel the knife between my shoulder blades."

I've come to the conclusion that if you can't beat em you might as well join em. Obama has apparently come to the same idea and has begun acting on it before me. I just can't bring myself to act on it yet.

war in Afghanistan and now Pakistan. Who wants those wars? The military and those who run the military, the media, privatization, the intelligence departments and perhaps the State Dept and every one involved in over site and accounting within the govt and the Fed Reserve, WB and IMF, WS schemers. And he is supporting the Patriot Act.

I still want to believe that he will not let down all the people who were energized because of him and believing him and supporting someone who broke the ceiling on minorities, especially those who gave up on voting and caring.

I was truly scared when he chose Leitner, Bernanke and I have been horrified about statements coming out of the State Dept and what I see as total in ital support for kicking Zelaya out, statements against Morales and Chavez, continued support for Columbia. And who knows what the heck is going on with Israel and Palestine. Israel doesn't care one bit about doing the right thing - so maybe no one can be successful there.

I want to see the U.S. to say they will not act, support, condone the bombing of Iran. I want them to be sincere about health care. I want that Patriot Act to blow up and be replaced with something rational and less paranoid. I want the voting process to be cleaned up 100^. I want the DLC to be de-powered.
I just don't know how much slack to give him for the transition period and when 'it' will end. It being all the things I despise about the world under Republicans.

I don't want it proved to me that there is no difference. I want him to make the difference.
