For my website, when I view the stats, "unique visitor" means that the IP address has not been at the site for that month (to date). Maybe for the DU host it's different but I think they all operate pretty much the same way.

56. Unique visitors refer to unique IP numbers, which don't count |
|
twice. Say the same person hit your site twice a day. Only one unique hit would be registered for that day....

it would still be a repeat actual user and not a unique visitor, it would be a repeat visitor under a unique IP.
Many here are probably on dial up or using multiple computers during the day so unique hits would not translate into unique visitors.

it's the perception that matters. The baggers and their supporters are having some success at portraying the protest as far larger than it really was.

Those are people that got out of their homes and went to a location to be a part of something. I was one of the 117k that came to DU that day, but I just did my Saturday thing. I wasn't out part of a spectacle that the 299 million other people in the US could see.
Though I did help raise money for the special needs kids baseball team my daughter plays on... =)
Peace!

Looks like a set-up to me. Why aren't we pro-public-option people more actively demonstrating? This is so fishy.
And, how large were the peace demonstrations in the first couple of years around the Iraq War? How large was the demonstration opposing Bush's inauguration?

But no where NEAR a million. I know what a million looks like from being there - the March for Women's Rights was estimated at 1.5 millon, all the marches to protest voter fraud and the Iraq War and Bush's criminality in general, and then there was Obama's inauguration...no way Saturday's Moronathon was anywhere CLOSE.

I see a mangy little anklebiter dog yapping thru a megaphone held by the MSM. The sound is amplified into something it isn't, the illusion of a real movement. This is the one-third of Amurka that still thinks Junior did a great job as President. Go home, people. Read a book. Look around. See how 'socialism' benefits you and yours every blessed day of your stupid lives. Honestly, I am so fed up with people who don't THINK!
