Stoopid Peepul

What is it about stupidity that America seems to love so much?

This glorification of stupidity has been consistently promulgated by films like Dumb and Dumber, Legally Blonde, Dude, Where's My Car, Idiocracy, Borat and - god help me - Forrest Gump. We Americans love stoopid peepul. As much as I enjoy the series Eureka, it's telling that in a town full of geniuses, the schtick is that it’s the not-genius sheriff (at least he isn't portrayed as a slapstick idiot) who usually solves the problem by either shooting it, whacking it with a stick or driving his Jeep into it. The geniuses are stereotyped as bumbling, socially inadequate, skinny, malformed, couldn't get laid if their Nobel Prize depended on it geeks. (Not helped that Bill Gates fits the physical profile). Real life geniuses, like John Forbes Nash, are presented as more cautionary tales - See? See? That's what happens if you get too smart, you become paranoid and go insane. Told ya so. Pass the popcorn, Ma..

Tell me again why they objected to President Obama encouraging their children to stay in school and study hard.

8. Maybe the freepers that troll over here will have their feelings hurt
My feelings have been hurt by unnecessary deaths in Iraq, lack of health care and an administration that emptied the treasury into their buddy's back pockets.
In comparison, I think we can let the freepers feel we are 'divicive'

26. Divisive?
Yah, I'd suppose it was a tad divisive. I don't know about you however, but I'm through trying to be friends with these idiots. Their 'policies' have always been way the fuck out there to begin with, and time has only worsened it. But we've come to an age and time where their idiotic 'beliefs' and their foolish 'expressions' are killing people and destroying lives. I don't have the wherewithal to deal with that kind of muck-breathing imbecile, I don't have the patience for it, and I won't abide it.

They can DIAF with their 'expressions', they can all suck up along with Beck&Co.'s astroturfing, they can be 'Energy Citizens' or whatever the hell the movement of their day is. More power to them. Just keep it the hell out of my way, the way of my friends, and the way of my family. They openly, willingly acquiesce to the talking heads on the most propaganda-filled network to air on television since the late 30's, do so proudly, and go out of their way to interfere with the lives of people they know nothing about SIMPLY BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THEM. Every fucking time one of their beloved policies hits home, suddenly it's an international catastrophe because they don't think the rules apply to them. That's the kind of self-centered nature that gives rise to the most callous, horrid judgments rationalized for the most transparent of reasons.

Divisive? Good. I'm not their friend. I'm not their wife. I SURE as hell am not their 'ally'. I am their ENEMY because they have willfully chosen to attempt to harm me. I'm sick of hearing them threaten us. As an old friend of mine used to say, jack the sound barrier and bring the noise.

4. It's simple, a stupid public is easy to manipulate
They were worried about Obama "indoctrinating" their children because they all were indoctrinated when they were children by the never ending conservative brainwashing that takes place in one generation to the next.

Conservatism is easy, people who are too lazy to think will fall prey to the conservative propaganda simply because it is broadcast on 5 networks 24/7. The boob tube has made us all boobs.

Just like people can't stand that a black man is in the White House, they also can't stand that their children might become smarter than they are. They might become intellectual and that would lead them away from conservatism.

So what you are saying is, if they misspell a word often enough it will become the correct spelling?
Is that their plan of attack to dumb the rest of us down to their level.
Or maybe they just think the 'English' dictionary is Un-American.

They're conspiring to take the country down via two means.

1- undermine the spelling system.
2- promote the concept of individualism.

You're onto them now, give them hell.

20. Well, you know what happens when you assume.
You started with the insults. I have been around a long time and it's going to take more than that to upset me. For starters I worked two jobs to support my children. Watched my youngest child fight Dermatomyositis for ten years, while my insurance company denied and delayed treatment. This caused him to be crippled for life. So you calling me an elitists is really, really rolling in the aisle funny.

I do suspect you made a left when you thought you were making a right.

Your second right was thinking the tea baggers had in any way shape or form demonstrated individualism.
Your third right was assuming I was an elitist.
So tell the truth are you ready to make that left?

24. Ah
Ok, it took me a long time to refind this thread. I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but this site it tricky, at least for me.

Your first post had no quotation marks. I assumed that it was your voice, rather than some snotty "e-journalist", being devisive.

The "tea baggers", as you call them, are individuals, are they not? Did they not act under their own power, to express themselves? Explain to me how they were coerced into performing the evil things that they did.

I don't recall saying that you're an elitist. Can you help me out there?

&forumhttp://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg=389&topic_id=6542027&mesg_id=6542781

You just made a fourth right (now you should be heading home) by calling Nicole Bell a snotty "e-journalist".
Did you not follow the link? She is far from snotty, she was making some valid points regarding the dumbing down of America.
Oh by the way "tea baggers" is the name they chose, not mine.
If repeating misinformation fed to them by Beck, O'Riely, Rush and Limbaugh is expressing themselves, than hey let them express away.

It was not your misspellings that I objected to, it was your message.

You are right. You did give me grief for my misspelling(s). You are an elitist. Forgive me for overlooking that.

The term "fourth right" is good.

I did not follow the link. I just read the text that I assumed that you had typed. I assumed that it was your snotty language.

When did they choose the term "tea baggers"?

What message of mine do you oppose?

You *are* stupid.

We can't all be born smart, but maybe you stupid people can acknowledge that you're stupid and stop trying to do things you're just not capable of.

Listen, I know I'm average looking and will never be model material. I accept that and don't try to be a model. Maybe you dumb asses should acknowledge you are *not* smart enough to run the freaking country and you should worry about balancing your own checkbook.

Just look at what you idiots have done to this country over the past 8 years (30, really, with a brief blip of the smart people in charge under Clinton)
