Ronald Reagan was a bloodthirsty war criminal.
Same as both Bushes, Cheney, and whoever will be next from that unholy cabal. I cannot believe the right idolizes him that much.

1. Ronnie had/has about 70 percent of the public snowed. He's a disgusting testament
...to the ignorance of the American people.

Any Democratic President would have been thrown out of office, tarred and feathered and rode out of Washington on a rail.

He got away with more bullshit then a 7 week old puppy. (Oh..you naughty, naughty little Darling)

:puke:

2. I've never understood why he's The Great Communicator
Every single speech I've ever heard by him has sounded like a droning tale told by the ancient uncle you avoid at the family reunion. That was true when he delivered them, and it's true now when I view them again.

I suppose that in terms of avuncular throw-backs to the Golden Age of White America, Ronnie scores big marks, but any other accolades given to him seem misplaced IMO.

3. His Presidency was a memorial
to what white middle America thought it was, a mythic Mayberry, Ozzie and Harriet, Father Knows Best alternate reality. Unfortunately, his administration was nothing but a bunch of straight up criminals...the same ones that Bush 43 populated his administration with. And why was Bush 43 able to do this? Oh yeah, because fucking Democrats never make Republicans pay for their crimes when they hold the reins.

6. Reagan was a war criminal, just like Bush!
Edited on Mon Sep-14-09 08:48 AM by sea four
He supported the Contras, the people who did this:
Rosa had her breasts cut off. Then they cut into her chest and took out her heart. The men had their arms broken, their testicles cut off. They were killed by slitting their throats and pulling the tongue out through the slit.

Reagan said the Contras were "our brothers" and he also said they were just like the founding fathers. Reagan was a vicious person who didn't care about anyone who was not rich, powerful and white.

He also supported Pol Pot, the dictator of Cambodia who murdered and tortured more than 2 million people:

7. Name one President in the last half century that hasn't been responsible for the
death and misery of thousands of others around the world

It doesn't make the above mentioned less culpable, but let's face it -- it's been an enduring problem for sometime

8. True, but the Reagan/Bush era defined that big, phony symbolism that grimly appealed to America
You know, holding hands with the religious RW, the uber phony "family values, inc" bullshit, the "just say no" propaganda, exaltation of the "trickle down" theory, etc. It's when the right adopted this grotesque, Orwellian, inflated caricature of itself that unfortunately many Americans eagerly embraced (by degrees), thus anchoring the un-reality of America even further.
