New tactic toward Beck. Instead of promoting Beck as the face of
the crazy right wing of the Republican party we ought to focus on making Beck the face of Mormonism. It seems to me that it might have more effect. It is obvious that the republicans do not care in the least how they are perceived by a thinking electorate. A thinking electorate wouldn't vote for them. They are only interested in mucking up the waters, creating unrest and stalling any sort a change in the moneyed system.
Religions, on the other hand, do care about the way they are perceived and if we can tie Becks racists and anti-Christian message to the Mormon church then it might be possible that they may denounce what he is saying just as advertisers do not want to be associated with his message. Beck and Fox might find themselves very embarrassed. The fact is that there is nothing Christian in the ramblings of Beck and he shouldn't be able to play the Mormon card with impunity.
The Mormon church should not be let off the hook when one of their congregation uses the airways to promote self-serving craziness which could result in violence to the President or others that might disagree with the vitriol.
Glen Beck......the face of Mormonism. It's time to help him play up his Mormonism.
Let them know what you think.

1. A lot of Evangelical Christians DO NOT like Mormons.
Almost no Evangelicals attend our Ministerial Association, because the Mormons do. I wonder how many of the fundies realize Beck is a Mormon.

2. He certainly talks about it so his listeners must.........
let that fact slide. Actually that's not dissimilar to the way they seem let a lot of facts slide.

3. I don't like the idea of using any religious beliefs as a
label to criticize someone. Criticize the person, not their affiliations, especially not their religious affiliations.

Beck is a right-wing nutball. That's why we object to him and that should be the basis of our criticism. Using his religion as a label is a bad idea...one that will end up backfiring.

4. I'm just asking if this is what Mormons believe. Of course not , then..

again, maybe they do, but when the church stays silent they tacitly agree with what he says.
I'm just saying that the same pressure put on advertisers could be put on the church.

6. Oh baloney.
So, can we tie the Catholic Church to every wingnut who they fail to silence? Can we do the same for each and every other sect?

What makes you think that the Church hierarchy in Salt Lake could shut Beck up? The worst they could do was excommunicate him, and believe it or not, they have to have grounds for such an action, it can't just be done arbitrarily. And you assume that doing so, or even threatening to do so would shut Beck up, I frankly doubt it, the man is so full of himself such actions would only make him bolder.

10. Have a beef with a church or denomination? Go after them.
Leave it out when you go after a person. Go after people based on their behavior, not their religious affiliation. I'm saying this as an atheist, who is tired of being lumped.

or

Fred Phelps the "face" of Christianity

Beck does not represent the views of all Mormons, or even all Mormons in the United States.

Edited to remove disrespectful comments toward the OP, with apologies.

8. Fair enough, I'm sorry for my incivility in this thread.
I am a Mormon, and Glenn Beck drives me to the point of distraction.

9. Mormons only decided blacks were human beings in 1978. Seriously.
I don't think they're bothered by being called racist.
