Dwight Eisenhower, Far Left , Liberal, Fascist, Extremist
A great president, a great general and a great leader. Also the last breath of decency in the Republican Party. Yet if he surfaced today, the man who fought against fascism, would be called by the right, a Fascist and a Communist. It also seems that his view would have been considered far left extremism by our democratic leaders.

Moderate these days, does not mean to the middle of the American Political Spectrum. Moderate means giving corporations what they want. Moderate means strong on crime, no such thing as corporate crime. Moderate means that death, deceit, theft and willful destruction are all quite acceptable as long as business is doing it to people.

Benito Mussolini said that fascism should rightly be called Corporatism as it is a merge of state and corporate power. He should know. Eisenhower, from the other side, used the same definition.

We had fascists in high positions in America during WWII. These folk faded into the woodwork for a while and then surfaced as the extreme anti-communists of the McCarthy era. These men detested free speech, and insisted on loyalty tests and oaths. They wrapped themselves in patriotism and raised fear in the hearts of easily frightened men. Among them where those that appeared a bit more moderate, but who still stood with and supported the more extreme of the new fascists.

We have once again seen the results of fascism. It destroys economies, lives on lies, and perpetuates endless wars of aggression. Fascism strikes first where no enemy exists. Fascism supports fear while appearing to be the answer to fear. Fascism can afford to give amazing quantities of money to industry, power and wealth. It cannot ever find the resources to help the common man.

If you want to find a visionary, or a patriot, it is easy enough to do. He is the man that is being called, a Far Left , Liberal, Fascist, Extremist.

2. Eisenhower also made some big mistakes.
He ordered the removal of the elected leader of Iran. Check out your history books if you doubt this.

3. I wonder if he later regretted that decision and could that memory have played a part
in his farewell address when he warned against "giving the military industrial complex too much power whether sought or unsought"?

5. The description of his tour of the Gotha concentration camp is amazing.
The press, his aides, and other military commanders dropped out because of the smell and horrible sights -- Eisenhower was the ONLY ONE to complete the tour, on his own. Later, he told an aide that he intended to ensure that the entire German High Command be executed because of what he had seen at Gotha.

In the only violation of military ethic he committed during his career, he did indeed try to influence the proceedings, steering firmly for execution for members of the High Command. He failed.

He made a lot of mistakes, here and there. Not responding to Emmet Till's mother is a big one, although the letter may have been intercepted and tossed by an aide. But recognize -- he was the FIRST to suggest integration of the Armed Forces. He stood up against McCarthy, denounced him, and was ultimately responsible for his downfall.

I would welcome him to these times with open arms. I believe he and Barack would be on the same page on most issues.

6. "Eisenhower Socialists" check in!
It's just dumbfounding how many people who toss that word around have no idea what was actually in practice here 9and worked). Even some who lived through it.

7. Guess that makes the John Birch Society the new "moderates"?
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 10:31 AM by leveymg
Let's not forget, the Birchers really did think Ike was a communist. Today, the MSM would call JBS a "moderate, non-partisan" Free Market advocacy group.

8. They were already calling Eisenhower a commie in 1959.
Read Rick Perlstein's Before the Storm for the whole disgusting story of the descent of the Republican Party.
