Regardless of the pricing impact on the American consumer, these type of duties and tariffs must be supported. The Chinese do not float their currency against others, have no environmental controls, have no worker benefits, outlaw labor unions, and have a political doctrine absolutely contrary to the West's.
So please, quit trying to explain why duties are bad for us using money as an argument. The United States and Western Europe need to immediately start curtailing Chinese imports and bring back manufacturing in order to reenergize their economies.

Oh yes - and beware of our political and business leaders who see this a catastrophe. They are the ones lining their pockets with profits while American and European workers suffer.
