Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 05:07 AM by Syrinx
This was somewhat above the fire department's estimate of 60,000, but a tiny fraction of his sometimes substitute, Michelle Malkin's "two million."

I'm wondering if anyone here knows how Glenn Beck quantified the crowd? Is he with Bill, or 'Chelle?

EDIT: I had been tuning into Beck a little over the last three weeks. I usually watch the late repeats of Colbert, but he's been gone for a fortnight and a half. Beck is almost as good, wink-wink, if you know what I mean.

5. I think beck said a million
Or around that number.

It seems O'lielly is worried that Faux may be losing credibility with the few honest freepers.

6. What was the number?
Nobody knows now or ever. The National Park Service quit issuing estimates 10 years ago. This is what te LA Times is reporting:

Although no official crowd estimates were issued, local officials and an expert indicated the number was more likely under 100,000, still a sizable turnout.

Farouk El-Baz, a Boston University research professor and expert on crowd estimation, said his informal research from press coverage indicated 75,000 as the peak number. Pete Piringer, a spokesman for the District of Columbia Fire Department, said he made an unofficial estimate of 60,000 to 70,000 at the beginning of the event.

Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority spokesman Steven Taubenkibel said Saturday that ridership figures indicated an extra 87,000 people took the subway all day, a significant increase over the 350,000 average.

75k is probably a fair estimate IMO.

9. Did you also hear O'Reilly say that this group....
....that this group doesn't care what the media thinks, blogger or anyone else? The only people who seem to be so concerned about the "number of people" there are, is you folks. Why? No one involved is really talking the numbers at all. Why? Because the numbers don't matter to those in the movement. The media will never be fair, that is crystal clear. So who needs them or their numbers. The reason this movement will grow and continue to build speed is for the simple fact that no one gets them! Not at all! You are all so clueless when you talk about what motivates these people, why they are doing what they are doing, who they are and what they want.

If you and the media get it right or wrong makes no difference-they are not looking for your approval, validation or even your attention. Not even on the list of priorities. And the comments on the time lapsed video and all the subsequent theories were hysterical.no offense but they were funny.

There is nothing the media, the blogs, the President, or anyone else can say that will discourage them..they have built this up with nothing from the media, the administration, or anyone else. There are no hidden wealthy backers, no secret organizers, no one is being paid, or getting rich, etc....contrary to what you all want to believe, none of those things are in play. Therefor, none of those things will make a difference one way or the other. These are not mean or vindictive people. They are not "mob like", nor are they the "fringe". Sure, you'll find a whack job or two in the mix, no doubt. That is inevitable. But "fringe"? Not at all!

Calling them "tea-baggers" is child's play...sticks n stones...blah blah blah.. Pulling the race card...already over-used and seems desperate, even at this early stage...

Are they serious? Yes! Are they motivated? Oh, yes! Will they be heard? Your talking about them aren't you?

I'm guessing that whatever "number" you all decide on is fine. Because again, it's not about the numbers!

Are you really naive enough to believe that? :eyes:

Just out of curiosity, where were you in 2003-2008? Did you get all riled up and take to the streets when Bush was pissing a billion dollars a MONTH on the Iraq war? Hmmm?

16. Let's list them shall we...
These sponsors of the non-event are all identified at the teabagger's website. All of them are well funded by RW "foundations" an corporate backers:

Competitive Enterprise Institute
Heritage Foundation
Heartland Institute
The American Conservative Union
Club For Growth

I could go on, but you get the point.

Enjoy your brief stay.

Post a few innocuous ramblings first claiming to be independent but criticizing the President then gradually slide in the more crazy comments. Come on man, this is freeper basic 101.

Yes, they are mob like - see the video of the man carrying a simple banner that read "Public Option Now" and look at the reaction he got. Without police protection they would have done him physical harm. The video of the man slapping a poster out of the hands of a smaller female just because she was expressing her right to free speech that contradicted his. Look at the racist and mean spirited signs comparing President Obama to Hitler, socialism, communism and or fascism. These people are crazy and dangerous and it's not the "fringe" this is the main core of this movement.

Angry, ignorant and racist is an accurate description of this group.

No big money or corporations behind this movement? Give me a break. Fox News the billion dollar propaganda wing of Rupert Murdoch either created or endorsed all the crazy conspiracy theories believed by these nutjobs. Glenn Beck (millionaire moron) took credit for the entire march on D.C., although he is too big a pussy to show up himself and hang out with the ignorant overweight trailer trash he called forth.

13. And where were you when your hero *Bush was trashing the Bill of Rights
and suspending Habeas Corpus? Where were you when he was running up the worst debt in the history of the nation?

As far as funding goes, one of the organizers, FreedomWorks the astrotrufing organization gets its funding from the likes of Verizon, MetLife, Philip Morris, and the Scaife family.

And who do you think paid to have all those signs and flags printed up and distributed?

20. Numbers do matter, dear.
There's not enough of you to vote more of your ilk in office.

The number of racists are dwindling.

And, your numbers are far less than ours, meaning our politicians should listen to us - the majority - instead of you - the minority. Oh, how rich - YOU'RE a minority. That must chap your hide.
