I don't know what's worse: that these two idjits are blatantly spreading the "1 million teebagurz" falsehood or that the PD pretty much allows not just ONE, but BOTH of them in today's LTTE section.

There was a massive rally in Washington on Saturday. Some estimate it to have been the largest crowd ever assembled there -- possibly more than 1 million people. Yet, The Plain Dealer chose to run this story on an inside page ("Thousands protest Obama's agenda in march on Capitol"). It is one thing for CBS, NBC and ABC to completely ignore the story, but I sure hoped my hometown paper would have more integrity and give it the prominence it deserved.

This was a gathering of people from all over our country united in peaceful protest against a government and administration that is increasingly ignoring our demands and our Constitution.

The only thing I can conclude is that The Plain Dealer shares their views.

:wtf: :wtf:

According to the Daily Mail, "Up to 2 million people marched to the U.S. Capitol . . . carrying signs with slogans such as Obamacare makes me sick' as they protested the president's health care plan."

The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks.

More than 1 million people assembling anywhere in this country for anything is more than newsworthy -- it deserves front-page, above-the-fold coverage.

That is something that the censors at The Plain Dealer obviously disagree with.

First of all, stupids, 2 million people didn't show up to this thing. There wasn't even 1 million people there. There were only 70,000 at best. Second of all, Fox News, CSPAN and CNN all covered this Fortress of Folly for the duration, not to mention the tons of pre-promotion for MONTHS prior that they got from Fox and CNBC. Thirdly, Anti-War protests get ZERO media coverage despite outdrawing this Klan rally disguised as a "protest" 5 to 7-fold, and without the major cable promotion either.

Finally, you're both as stupid as the editorial board of this rag that allowed your lie-filled letters in their paper without fact-checking, and should all get your voices revoked until you realize you're not entitled to your own facts.

1. A LTTE Is Rarely Fact Checked...
That's up to the readers to determine...thus why its in the paper's interest to publish a letter from an opposite viewpoint or a rebuttal. Let's see if the paper does that.

Fact checking belongs in the news section...and you have a legitimate bitch about how most news organizations have downscaled themselves to cheapen both quality and standards, but Op-Eds and LTTEs are a totally different animal.

Pissed? Then write a letter with the facts. Let's see if it gets published.

3. That's the operative phrase - "Let's See if it gets Published".
Trust me, my published-to-non-published ratio of LTTEs addressing reader and reporter falsehoods is about 1 vs 18 by now. It's an exercise in futility.

I find it hilarious that their online versions of these LTTEs, which used to allow reader comments, no longer do. Otherwise, I and likely many others would lambaste these two know-nothing kings.

I'm just not getting why any large-circulation paper would publish letters that are so blatantly false that it would make THEM look bad. The attendance numbers were controversial, and the Plain Dealer's editors shouldn't feed the other side's trolls.

2. Their right wing shows more often than not.

What do you expect from a newspaper who wouldn't let their editors endorse Kerry

4. Is every post here at DU fact checked? I suggest writting a rebuttal.
My local paper has some standards that must be met before it will publish a LTTE but being factual is not one of them.

6. Its the Plain Dealer, which I, and many others, stopped reading years ago.
They try to give them away for free at the train station all the time and no one even takes them for free.

8. Take deep breaths, Hugh. Deep breaths. Then repeat to yourself this mantra:
"Connie Schultz, Connie Schultz, Connie Schultz..."

Seriously, if it wasn't for her...and look at all the crap she gets in the comments on her columns when they're placed online.

9. a.k.a. "Commie Schultz" to the fundies.
I can't even believe ANYone thinks that paper slants left.

It's called RATIONALITY; if it weren't for that, you'd have every Turner-diary-reading Jerome Corsi drooler scribbling in crayon whatever lunatic thought comes to mind and this sad paper would publish it.

I mean, "Bucky the Beaver" O'Brien has enough wingnut in him for THREE Glenn Becks.
