Toronto Star: Down with capitalism
Down with capitalism
Moore braces for U.S. reaction to latest doc, the strongest since his debut 20 years ago

Peter Howell
Movie Critic

Michael Moore may look like he's in a jolly mood, munching grapes as he banters during an interview yesterday at TIFF.

But the finger pointer from Flint, Mich., is angry, really angry, about what's happened to his beloved country America in the past year and over the past three decades.

It all comes pouring out in Capitalism: A Love Story, his ironically titled skewering of the U.S. money system that all but imploded in recent months because, Moore argues, of inept government, greedy bankers and flawed values.

"I thought as you get older you're supposed to mellow out," Moore says.

"But I just get more mad. I'm sorry!"

His impassioned new documentary is getting stronger critical kudos than perhaps anything he's done since Roger & Me, his 1989 joust with General Motors that started it all. Moore gets so worked up in Capitalism, he challenges his viewers at the end to either get with the program or count him out of the revolution. ............(more)
