Tourism boycott threatened over Wilson's 'You lie' outburst
This should make him really popular!

“WASHINGTON — State and local tourism officials are being flooded by emails and calls from people across the country, saying they won't vacation in South Carolina because they're upset by GOP Rep. Joe Wilson's outburst at President Barack Obama.

The officials said that a number of the out-of-state e-mailers have said they've taken beach trips for years in Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head and other South Carolina resort areas, but don't plan to return.."…cont…

“South Carolina's $1 billion-plus tourism industry, centered around its beaches, had already been hit by the recession as Americans postpone vacations or cancel travel altogether. The state's 11.8 percent unemployment rate is among the highest in the country.

Marion Edmonds, a spokesman for the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, said his agency had received 147 emails from people who cited Wilson by name and expressed displeasure with his remark.”…cont…

1. I just e-mailed Middleton Place, a wonderful plantation I've visited before,
and said I was canceling my plans to return.

I will also contact the Dept of Tourism. I just wish I had $$$ to donate to his Dem opponent.

2. Those Emails Will Help
'Cause state officials are going to have to address the issue. Wouldn't it be a riot if, because of fears of revenue loss, Sanford comes put and verbally smacks Wilson?

4. He is not sorry
He's acting as a role model to the town hall crowd. His wife is proud of him. He's accepting all the campaign donations in the name of his bad behavior. He's defiant and belligerent and getting away with it. If he cared about doing the right thing he would send those donations right back and tell the donors that he can't accept the money because he has some shame. When he apologizes to the House, from the floor, then he will appear to be sorry for his actions. He's a smart ass punk.

5. Yeah, well, Bull Connor got accolades for standing up to the civil rights marchers, too.
History will get its own, in the end.

He will be recognized as an asshole when the history of the era is written. Short term gain for historical opprobrium.
