A rare sight : Stephen Colbert being bashed by Republicans ?
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 02:41 PM by Progressivism
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090914145038AAYDu7j

Example: "Colbert is a leftist goon. I think it's hilarious when liberals always talk about how the Republican party is dead; however they can't refrain from making such wild allegations such as calling them KKK members, terrorists, etc.

So who's really scared? I think it's the left by far.

A little history lesson though. What party did KKK members belong to when it was started? Democrat. What party was for slavery? Democrat. What party was against civil rights? Democrat."

The Government & Politics section of Yahoo Answers is currently dominated by Republicans.(just so you know)

4. That's why I dumped my Yahoo email and no longer use their "myyahoo" page
I noticed it in their news stories as well. Gotta take a side I guess. Hoping Rupert will buy them out before Gates does.

I'm afraid of the GOP... and the KKK... and domestic terrorists...

6. A little hard to follow
but this part-

A little history lesson though. What party did KKK members belong to when it was started? Democrat. What party was for slavery? Democrat. What party was against civil rights? Democrat."

Is actually the truth.

8. sure, it may be true, but its also irrelevant.
We are living in the here and now, where the party of the KKK, neo-Confederates, and racists is the Republican party, thanks to Nixon and the Southern Strategy.

13. Its always been conservatives vs progessives, regardless of what party name they happen to use;
if the Republican party was (still) the progressive party it once aspired to be, then this site would be called Republicanunderground.com.

In the evolution of party politics in this country, progressives *just happened* to find themselves drawn to the Roosevelt/Kennedy/Clinton wing of the Democratic party (and have somewhat come to dominate it), and the conservatives have been drawn to the more recent Reagan/Bush/Jesse Helms brand -and have essentially taken over the Republican party. The Teddy Roosevelt/Eisenhower Republicans are mostly extinct.. just like the George Wallace/Strom Thurmond Democrats are mostly gone.
