240-179: Wilson gets his hand slapped - but not just yet

Ladies and gentlemen, there you go...

But now they need to have a recorded vote to suspend the rules so that this rebuke is made "officially" offical.

2. Where are the nasty ol' ROTTEN TOMATOES? I want to throw one Wilson's way
Woudn't hurt him. Would just make him smell as nasty as his foul mouth.

8. In real terms? Not much
In terms of loss of social standing and prestige in DC, quite a bit (presuming Addison Graves Wilson had any to begin with). People will be wary of being seen with him, and he will be far less likely to garner any support if he decides to mouth off again. These sorts of things don't matter a whole lot to some old lady in Sheboygan or some Cub Scout in Paducah, but in the circles Wilson runs in, it hurts a whole lot.

16. The fact that he is an asshole is recorded into the congressional record.
Aka the history books. Kind of a crappy legacy to leave behind.

4. They formally 'rebuked' his outburst. Does that mean he is
censured?

9. He had only 96 friends to vote with him???
That's gotta hurt.

The sad thing is he does not want to "get it".
This was a vote of his peers for disrespecting the club house rules.
Had nothing to do with Obama, really.

And I watched those Repugs get up and essentially say " Following rules is soooo passe' "

15. Good, now it's Miller time eveyone
Rob Miller time. Courtesy of ActBlue. Keep the funds flowing to Rep. Joe Wilson's opponent:
Daily Kos Diary 9/15/09
It's Miller Time
by ActBlue

Tue Sep 15, 2009 at 02:17:53 PM PDT

I wrote that subject line, thought, "God, I bet that joke's been done to death," but I decided to keep it because hey, it is Miller time.

Rob Miller, Republican Rep. Joe Wilson's Democratic opponent, has over 900k on ActBlue, and, last time I checked, the mean donation was under $40. That means that Democrats were able to put together almost a million dollars, transparently and in real time, in about 48 hours. And "in real time" doesn't do it justice. On 9/10 Miller was raking in over $1,000/minute, and his total haul that day represents an influx of about $7/second. Those seem like video game numbers rather than fundraising numbers.

Those ActBlue numbers also produced a huge number of press hits, including many in the MSM and political insider periodicals. That's a roundabout way of saying that 25,000 ordinary Democrats, each giving under $40, set the political narrative in this country.

Good for Congress and good for Rob!

Sonia
