There is no way that there were more than 100,000 people here for the 9/12 march. I take the metro every day and there was essentially NO congestion in the system. I didn't even notice until I changed trains and ran into people on the Red Line. It's busier during rush hour--hands down.

During the inauguration, lines for the metro stretched for blocks, roads were closed and traffic was diverted. The inauguration was a feat of logistics and a major strain on the public transportation in the city.

I'm no expert, I just live here, but if they're not bringing in extra police/security and altering traffic and public transportation, then it's just another blip on the radar.

Nice try Faux Freaks...

1. The entire thing is an illusion of size
the teabaggers were stirred up to cover for all the money that was going to decide the issue (both sides) in DC

2. I've lived here since 1973 -
I've seen, and been inside, crowds. Really serious crowds.

This one was 30,000, tops. The ones who are calling 60,000 are nuts - not you, margot.

There was nothing going on downtown on Saturday - the Metro ran normally, no unusual PortaPotty activity, no streets closed for extended stretches of time, all the Smithsonians were open, all the area restaurants were open, bicyclists and joggers were on the Mall running path, doing their usual thing.

It was just another Saturday in downtown DC, and the numbers these jokers are trying to pass off are plain old lies.

But, honesty was never their long suit, was it? Neither is honor or dignity or fairness or compassion.

It was just another Saturday in our nation's capitol............................................

8. All the Smithsonians were open?
But I saw a picture of the teabaggers at the mall and the Museum of the American Indian wasn't open cause they tore it down before they took the picture.

9. Oh, that?
That didn't appear in the photograph because it contains many objects venerating heathen gods. Therefore, that particular Edifice of Satan will not appear on any photo taken by a Good Christian Camera..............................

4. That's assuming more than a handful could figure out how to use the Metro system.
Or weren't ascared of the evil spirits that dwell underground.

10. Looking at all those fat, angry, confused,
polyester-clad white people with their silly signs, I doubt any of them were brave enough to take the Metro....................

6. I remember in 1994 when the World Cup was in town
That was a huge crowd... I could barely get on the train

And that claim about the freeways being closed because of the gaggle of idiots?

Total fucking bullshit

7. Nelson Mandela's visit -- guess it was 1990.
Now THAT was some traffic. I'd say 50,000 max for the 9/12 wackos, and I'm being generous.

11. Obama's inauguration -
they did something I've never seen in my thirty-six years of being legally domiciled here.

Around 2 a.m. on January 20, the major roads into DC were closed. To everything. I'm pretty sure emergency vehicles were permitted through, with escorts, but anything else - no way.

Stayed closed until the Inaugural Parade had concluded.

That's how tight the security was. Unbelievable.........................
