If they cannot stand with us now... |
|
If they cannot stand with us on healthcare, then why should we stand behind any of them in the future? I am speaking of those "moderate" Republicans like Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, and perhaps a couple more, that now refuse to stand with us on healthcare. There have been times in the past when we did not put up credible opponents to these Senators because they sometimes voted with the Democrats and the people. Our Party has helped them several times.
Now, our Party is struggling to get one Republican to vote with them on the healthcare issue. How much loyalty, if any, do we need to give to these "moderate" Republicans in the future if they cannot stand with us now...

1. Why compromise on anything with them when they will not vote for anything anyway? |
|
It's simply insane.
Nothing has changed in all these months.
The only way Obama will get a bill is with the Democrats, and maybe only 50 + Biden.
And that's good enough for me, if it's a good bill with a strong public option.

2. It appears we will have no other choice... |

We need to take a headcount. If we have 50 committed votes for a public option, we vote on a bill.

And every decent thing in it.
