ACORN is now the GOP's new distraction.
Edited on Wed Sep-16-09 06:57 AM by FarPoint
I'm listening to senator Shelby babble on, ( Cup of Joe, MSNBC" )and on....how corrupt they are..........well....

The GOP is clueless to the community they serve. They sound like they want to take all Community Activist of ACORN out back and shoot them. I'm deeply saddened by all this hate.

1. They want to take everyone not in lockstep with them
out back and shoot them. They're trying to do it one group at a time until they run out of groups to persecute.

2. Not New...They've Been At It For A While...
ACORN equal black people who vote Democratic. rushpublicans have been breast-fed to believe that minorities...specifically blacks are both inferior and being abused by the Democrats for their votes. They use a similar variation on their new-found, but also long-term hatred of Hispanics (specifically Mexicans). It's an attempt to nullify the civil rights acts (that they opposed...most as Dixiecrats) and rally their base with some good ole fashioned hate.

Community activism scares the shit out of the rushpublicans cause it represents a risng from below...a disruption in the force and the status quo and in extreme conflict with their patriarcal, top-down way of viewing power and the world. Racism is a core bond with rushpublicans and hatred of ACORN gives them a target for their frustrations...especially since there is a black man who was elected President.

Their ultimate goal is to disenfranchise as many poor, elderly and black voters as possible. As this party continues to shrink, it's only chances to win elections is to marginalize the electorate...that's why they've been so active in creating a new system of obstruction and road blocks for so many to vote. ACORN registers voters who are likely to vote Democratic...in the GOOP view, they must be destroyed.

5. Their Death Throes Are A Part Of Their Implosion
I have no pity for what I'm seeing happen to the rushpublican party. They had a 30 year run of abuse and bullying our political system into the mess we face today. Their arrogance and corruption led to going from the pinacle of power to a fringe minority in just 3 years. What's left is a party of extremists who fear their own shadows and need to keep up their parallel universe to maintain any relevance.

Yes, it will pass...but not without more noise, outrage and desperation. While I hope this doesn't turn violent, the signs are there and if that occurs it will be the ultimate destruction of their party. Those who fan these flames don't realize how close they are to any blowback. Again, I hope it doesn't get to that point, but I see it being the way all this hatred will manifest.

Cheers...

6. an easy target. Slow moving, concentrating on their job, not PR.
and not politically adept. But successful at registering people to vote. No wonder the GOP hates them.
