Why the RW media keeps trying to push the "beware of overexposure, Obama" meme... |
|
What Obama's strategists found last year... and even since he became President... is that the more people see of Obama, the more comfortable they become with him.
Most Presidents suffer when they are "overexposed", because the public gets sick of them. But in Obama's case, because he is an "other" to most Americans, the more people see and hear from him, the less fear they have OF him.
The Marxist-Socialist-Usurper-Dictator-Evil themes of guys like Beck and other rightwingers gain traction when Obama is out of the public eye. They lose their traction when he is back in.
There's a reason why Obama got a nice bump from the speeches last week. It wasn't just his speaking ability. It was hard for someone who listens to Beck everyday to watch that and STILL think "Evil Usurper!" Obama is very reassuring when he talks.
He looks and sounds in control. He looks and sounds rational. In short, he does NOT look and sound at all like the caricature that Beck and other haters present to their audiences.
Every time Obama gets wide exposure, his numbers go up.
Every time Obama is out of the limelight (like when he was on vacation a few weeks ago), his numbers dip.
The GOP strategists know this as well. That's why they are throwing out the "overexposure" theme this week.
It's why they fought the speech to school students so hard.
This week:
5 Sunday show appearances... and the SOLO guest on Monday's Letterman.
Wanna bet that Letterman's show is his highest-rated of the season?
Why? Because people LIKE seeing and hearing from this President.
Wanna bet that a large chunk of Americans hear Obama's message this weekend? Every cable outlet (sans Fox) will be showing clips of Obama's Sunday interviews on their networks for 48 to 72 hours after Sunday.

to look good :)
He's a pleasure to watch, he knows how to speak TO people and doesn't resort to theatrics to get his point across.
The RW machine is simply terrified of his magnetism and logic.

2. Agreed. The media is afraid of Pres. Obama because |
|
the more his approval ratings rise, the less they can run around screaming about what's going wrong. I'm sick of all of them.

3. He is a brilliant orator. If I were on the RW, I'd fear his TV exposure too. |
|
In fact I already fear his TV exposure when I disagree with him on policy, and I'm a liberal.
He could sell an anchor to a drowning man.

Beck and Limpballs can only sell their idea of a crazed Muslim radical commie if people don't listen to or see Obama himself.

Rush, Glen, and the rest of the RW Wurlitzer hate seeing Obama get media time...it makes their job of disinforming and confusing their audience that much more difficult.

8. And another thing -- speaking publicly short-circuits the Beltway Villager circle-jerk. |
|
I don't know if Obama realizes it, but he could have sold America on Single Payer with a few good national TV appearances. He could have done it.

10. Watch the faces in the CROWDS Obama draws...they are rapt with attention. |
|
The RWs hate it when they don't have control of the people. You have Boehner, McConnel, Armey, Beck, Rush et al., falling over themselves while trying to get the people's attention again. They can only do it by 9/12 type circuses. The other thing they hate is when Obama has so many irons in the fire...he's everywhere, he's changing everything, everybody loves him and has his back. "How did we lose control?" they scream.
Let them scream. Obama should start pulling out the evidence they have on various crimes that were committed by the last administration and by these characters and hang their dirty laundry on the line. So, maybe a Dem or two will also go down...so be it. This **** has got to stop.
