There is no racism in America

I am sick and tired of people saying America discriminates against Blacks. It's absolutely not true. Why, the ancestors of most Blacks in America were given free passage from Africa to America, for chrissakes. I'll bet none of the white immigrants here got a free ticket on whatever ship or boat they took to get here. And then when the blacks got here we provided them with lifetime employment, free meals and even a rudimentary form of social security. White men even offered a full service sexual education to many of those fortunate Black women. What a deal.

Hell, one of "them" was elected as President even though he may have been born in Kenya and might be a secret Muslim terrorist. Frankly, I don't know what more white people can do to make Black people happy. Hell, we already let them play on all our professional sports teams. We let Tiger Woods win all those golf tournaments. We let our kids dance to rap music. What more do they want from us, anyway?

Black hospital patients are far less likely to survive cardiac arrest than white patients, new research shows.

And the reason in many cases is that black patients usually go to the hospitals that do the poorest job resuscitating patients.

Just 25.2 percent of black patients who suffered cardiac arrest while they were hospitalized left the hospital alive, according to a study published today in The Journal of the American Medical Association. That compares with 37.4 percent of white patients who survived — a difference of 48 percent.

“That’s huge — larger than any other survival gap by race,” said Paul Chan, a researcher at St. Luke’s Hospital who led the national study. “And it’s poignant because the white survival rate wasn’t very high either.” Many studies have found racial disparities in the quality of health care. Black and Hispanic preschoolers are less likely to receive routine asthma medications than white children. Minority residents of nursing homes are less likely to get glasses or hearing aids than white residents. 11. Wow, this calls to mind something from many years ago

I was in ninth grade, last year of Junior High, and had to be bused to a different Junior High School for that whole racial quota thing back in the mid 60s.

I made friends with a black girl. We had a lot of the same classes together and we often had lunch together too.

But...

as soon as school was over and we got on the bus to go home, she didn't "know" me. She sat in the back with her other black friends. They were rude and rather snotty to the white kids, even to me. My friend never said anything to them. Next morning I'd get on the bus and they would all be there in the back of the bus again (they were the first to be picked up and last to be let off).

For that whole final year of Junior High School this was how it was. Friends in school, but absolute strangers on the bus. And I didn't dare try to sit with her in the back of the bus, which she and her friends had virtually taken over as their property. At the very least I'd have been verbally abused. At worst, I didn't even want to find out.

This was very hurtful to me, but I was a shy kid and quite naive, and never said a thing. Actually, I think this is the first time I've ever told anyone at all.

It took a long time for me to figure out that it had nothing to do with me personally...

4. I heard something similar from my mother in law recently. "Where would they be today

if we left them in Africa". She is 92 and there's no talking to her. In most areas she is fairly open minded. This shows how deep seated some racism is.

And the picture shows Africans sitting on the deck. They were not so lucky. They were packed in the holds like freight. Not a great chapter in human history.

war. Good grief. It's all I can do to be civil in her presence. Although she knows that I will leave the room when she starts her racist rants.

10. Yes. My mother was raised near LA in the 30's and said that Mexicans weren't allowed in the public

pool until Tuesday. Then the pool was cleaned on Wednesday. Her father was a wonderful man but I believe (he never said a word) that he had deep seated feelings about the Mexican immigrants. Of all his grand children, the only one that bears his surname is half Mexican. No lesson, just that the world does change.

13. On 9/9/09 I became the proud (step) mother-in-law to a nice

Mexican American young man.

His family, all first generation Americans, live in El Paso, TX.


My stepdaughter and her new hubby got married in Las Vegas, are currently on a cruise in Alaska, and will be doing another ceremony at our house next month, when we will hopefully be meeting her new in-laws.


He often pokes a bit of fun at himself and his heritage...like one time my stepdaughter asked him to do something for her and he says, "Oh sure, get the Mexican guy to do it!"


anyway, I have a rather diverse family all the way around, and it's really cool
