A year ago tonight my Father passed away.
And I'd just like to thank you all again for the love and strength you gave my family and I during a very tough time.

I still have the threads, and every time I look at them, my heart is filled with your warmth and kindness all over again.

I love you all.

:loveya:

Mods, I'm also posting this in the Lounge.

15. I find so much comfort by "walking backwards in my mind".
I can reach back to encouraging words, and "feel" the warmth of a gentle touch. Thank the dear lord for memories of all the love that we have felt in our lives. Yes, even our fur babies.

22. I see him in almost every place I go.
I do deliveries in the sections of Philly where he grew up, worked, and where we went to church as kids.

And according to my family, there is much of him in the mirror when I look there as well.

A year ago last month my mother passed away at 66 from a massive stroke. It's been one hell of a ride but am finally seeing a little sunshine.

I had a similar experience when my Dad passed one year ago this last June 25th, and DU was there for me as well. Try and remember the good times, it sometimes helps me ... a little bit.

30. Peace to you
and yours.

The loss of a parent is a difficult thing. Even a year later, there is a mixture of emotions .... the pain of separation, and the strength of good memories. As human beings, we experience both.

There will still be times that when something good happens, that you will find yourself wishing you could share a conversation with your Dad. In those times, you will feel his strength. And he, yours.

32. Many thanks my friend
He's always close by, in songs I hear, in images I see, and in hearing in my mind how he'd react to things.

We've had those conversations. We still talk in our own way. :)

31. My thoughts go out to you on this sad anniversary...
I have a psychologist friend who says that it can take up to two years to fully grieve the death of a loved one.

Sometimes I think the process of grief is never truly completed, though.

Next month will be seven years since my dad passed away. At times I still find it hard to believe he's gone.

The pain never really goes away...it just dulls a little and doesn't feel so much like a knife to the heart after a while.

33. There was a moment some weeks ago pipi_k
I was watching TV and a scene came on where 2 doctors were taking turns performing CPR on an elderly mn. It took me right back to that nigh a year ago, the paramedics working on Dad until they realized there was nothing else that could be done.

I cried like I haven't cried in a long, long time. I'm sure those moments will come to me for as long as I live. I'm glad they happen. It means he's still loved and missed.

sweetest things, just when you need them most.

I'm sorry for your loss.
