As I turn homeward to the Land of Lincoln (and Obama)after several days in the northeast, including two in DC, a little shout-out to some of the freepers, birthers, teabaggers and klansmen who took offense at my Obama cap, Health Insurance Reform Now sticker or (Bush) Worst President Ever tee-shirt:

-to the slug who called Barack Obama a "mongrel",
-to the woman who passed me on the sidewalk and spat out "traitor!" without breaking stride or looking back,
-to the strapping young Aryan who not only slowed to flip me off on the interstate at 65 mph, but who also stopped on his exit ramp to do it again as I passed,
-to the clerks who saw my politics and looked past me to address and wait on others,
-to the "fine southern lady" who wagged her finger at me in an elevator, told me I had better "wake up and read the handwriting on the wall" and finished with "That man is NOT a Christian!",
-to the classy folks who want to "bury Obamacare with Kennedy",

I'd like to thank all of you for proving that the home-made sign in the rear window of my car is correct. You know, the one that reads "Van Jones was RIGHT!"

As a resident of the DC area, I thank you for gracing our neighborhoods with your esteemed and honored presence, and I especially applaud your choice of wardrobe and accessories.

For those people who did those things, I don't know what to say. I would apologize, but I have no connection with them. I would pray for them, but I'm not a believer. I would say something else about them, but I'm being quite the lady tonight.

I love what we did, I love what we were, and I love what we are. I'm with you on the idea of "fuck" as my North Star, and the truth is that we may not say it as loudly as we once did, but we now have the conviction of years of experience behind us, so when we toss it out, it really means something.

8. I drove around Idaho for a couple of years with...

the "Somewhere In Texas A Village Is Missing It's Idiot" bumper sticker. I never once had anyone give me any crap about it. Several times I had people honk and give me a thumbs up, laughing and saying nice sticker or something like that.
I am rather large, mean looking and spend a fair amount of time in the gym:) That may have discouraged any trouble.
