Wait! I got it! Max Baucus is a....
martyr!

He secretly wants to retire and offered up the worst piece of shit legislative gift to the insurance company to make a public option seem like a really, really good idea to everyone else and then he can just retire and slink away to some ranch in Montana.

Right? I mean...it *has* to be that, right? Who else would support such a vile, corporatist piece of shit bill??

5. I'll go out on a limb here -
just because I'm feeling wild and crazy tonight - and make the prediction that he ends up in DC as a lobbyist for the insurance industry.

I know, I know, it's a long shot, but, hey, I said I was feeling especially goofy tonight...................

8. LOL Ya think?
And we shan't forget FORMER MT Senator Conrad Show Me the Money Burns or even former gov Marc (then on to RNC head and bush/cheney head, now lobbyist) Get Me Someplace Warm Racicot.

Bunch of weather wimps! Sell anybody out to keep from coming back here and shoveling snow ;)

His first ex-wife is a D.C. attorney. I always wondered if she helped get his second ex-wife off easy for that brawling in the garden center incident. One would suppose it best to have them all compatible. ;)

P.S. you have mail

10. My first thought too
but, to be fair, I did sorta wonder if some Big Insurance henchman sent a newspaper obit from when his nephew was killed in that #(@#)@ war and inquired as to the health of the other nephew still in the military.

Just the way I roll, tryin to look at all the possibilities.
