I just went to all the web sites at you tube and listened to the songs. I played Hammer and Wind 2X each. I had a flash-back to the 70's - playing the songs and singing along with my kids at 112th Street school in Watts. Picture a circle of about 25 shining black faces and one white one all singing with great feelings of joy and passion " . . I'd hammer aaaall over this land ! " OR "How many roads must a man walk down before they CALL him a maaaan" We talked about what caused the writer to create the song and I asked the kids "What do you think it means?" We had the words written out in big carefully printed letters on a rack so everyone could read and sing along. Oh, those were the days! Lester Maddox was standing in a school house door with an axe handle while the kids and I were "singing in the mornin, singin' in the evenin aaaall over this land."
I saw them in concert live twice. I was hoping she'd live forever.

a great big piece - there weren't that many women singers back then - of our youth is gone.
I've been sniffling and tearing up all evening, surprising myself.......................
