Rep. Kevin Brady called for a government investigation into whether the government-run subway system adequately prepared for this weekend’s rally to protest government spending and government services.

The Texas Republican on Wednesday released a letter he sent to Washington’s Metro system complaining that the taxpayer-funded subway system was unable to properly transport protesters to the rally to protest government spending and expansion.

“These individuals came all the way from Southeast Texas to protest the excessive spending and growing government intrusion by the 111th Congress and the new Obama administration,” Brady wrote. “These participants, whose tax dollars were used to create and maintain this public transit system, were frustrated and disappointed that our nation’s capital did not make a great effort to simply provide a basic level of transit for them.” "

4. It's true that the mall and surrounding buildings are mostly tourists.

And if you hang around the Rayburn building, for example, you'll run into congress critters.

But members of the service industries are largely made up of the general DC population.

But in getting into the city or just wandering around the burbs you see a kaleidoscope of nationalities and races.

And I doubt any of them were staying in the better hotels near the mall. :P

Also I have always found the metro to be well run with really nice people working there that don't mind helping me who really stupid about subways since we don't even have buses in the boonies here. They were very efficient for the anti-war protest and there were a hell of a lot more people than that pitiful thing they had last weekend.

that a number of things happened to those shitwits when they got to DC:

1. They found out there are a lot of "those people" who live here - the majority, in fact;
2. the Metro is a subway;
3. the farecard system requires a functioning brain;
4. using a farecard is very, very difficult - you need to know which way the arrow has to point (down) when you put it in that slot;
5. they didn't understand how turnstiles work;
6. the Metro maps made them cry........................................

Given that Mr. Brady works in Washington I would think he'd be aware of that policy and that he or another organizer would have done their leg work so that they had the required service they needed.
