Tea Party Protesters Protest D.C. Metro Service
I think it's official. Conservative whackjobs have officially killed satire. I mean, if a bunch of people who HATE taxes and paying for public services are pissed off because the public transportation system didn't work to their liking, how is any self-respecting wiseass supposed to keep up with them?

Read it.

I give up.

1. Why were they using socialized transportation anyway?
How many teabaggers did it take to figure out how to use the Metro's ticket machines?

3. Used public transportation to go to a public park, no less...
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 08:05 AM by Jeff In Milwaukee
Shouldn't they just have gathered on Glenn Beck's front lawn?

Edit: In keeping with a suggestion from an earlier thread, they used "Public Option Transportation" to get to a "Public Option Park"

2. The teabaggers are a running joke
The Metro wasn't socialized enough for these turds.

5. In the article, they complain about having to use taxi's
Hey! That's the private sector solution to transporation, isn't it? They ALL should have taken a cab.

4. The DC Metro needs to be protested
It's a fucking disgrace.

I disagree with everything else the teabagging morans say and do.

BUT...
my husband has been commuting on the Metro for 19 years. The service, maintenance and employee attitude have been rapidly going downhill for the past several years, while fares rise and rise.

Last night, riding home, he overheard a conversation in which people were discussing a Metro supervisor who HIT his subordinates. Not once, but in 6 documented incidents. What kind of insane company lets this go on?

6. That's a fact of life in all industries and services
Service is decreased, employee attitudes worsen, and costs increase.

I can't name an industry or service in the country where this is not the case.

12. Management by cattle prod
That's what I advocate. Sneaking up behind a worker who has let his attentiveness and service quality lapse and BZZZZZZT! Lurk in a manager's office when he is about to increase his stock option and BZZZZZT! People are lazy in general, and left to their own devices, will underperform and overpay themselves. There has to be an incentive to provide good, economical service and a disincentive to skim money and provide shoddy service.

15. I'm glad you like Metro
My husband grew up in Manhattan and rode the subways there for years.
When we moved to Maryland in 1990, the Metro was fine.

Now he has to take a train in the opposite direction for several stations, in order to squeeze into a train that has enough room for additional passengers going to Shady Grove. It used to take him an hour to get home. Now it takes 2 hours.

8. If these assholes were willing to give tax money to metro, we wouldn't have this problem!
Holy fucking hell, this one pisses me off. It's specifically these people that cause the very situation that they're protesting.

11. Total losers and full of it.
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 09:07 AM by Mike Daniels
I was on the metro Saturday afternoon and the trains were nowhere near capacity.

Besides, Metro handles weekend crowds that are at least 3 times the TB attendance regularly during the summer tourist season without much difficulty and I don't believe they add extra trains during summer weekends.

Anyway, I thought the general practice was if private groups needed expanded service for their event that they paid for that service out of their pockets.

The propensity for these clowns to bitch about everything is pretty amazing.

17. They are doing three things with this letter
With this letter they get to use two of their favorite talking points -

they get to complain about a publicly funded program "See! The government can't run anything!"

they get to complain about taxes "my hard-earned taxes pay for this.....!!!"

AND it gives the impression that there were so many people there (despite what the facts say) that Metro couldn't handle them all.

18. Life can be a paradise for those not cursed with self-reflection...
They have their world view constantly reinforced by the Limbaugh's and the Beck's of the world.
