Editor’s Note: The election of the first African-American President has unleashed an ugliness on the Right and within the Republican Party that now confronts the United States with a new political crisis.

It is a battle over whether facts and decency have any chance in a political/media system dominated by distortions and fury – amplified by hate-mongers and opportunists in the powerful right-wing media – as media activist Jay Diamond observes in this guest essay:

For months radio lout Steve Malzberg screamed 10 times a day that "Folks, Barack Obama HATES! this country and his WIFE HATES! this country."

And when for over 10 years, every day, Sean Hannity couldn't survive a fact check in the average kindergarten class, and when he violated Abner Louima with the equivalent of a verbal plunger after Louima had been worked over with a physical plunger, that was nothing else but Vile Poison.

Prior to low-brow, right-wing, dishonest, and hate-fueled talk radio, the political culture of our country would have prevented Joe Wilson from screaming insults at the President of the United States in the midst of an address to a joint session (or anywhere else).

This culture of relentlessly dishonest and utterly ignorant pure hate which is ubiquitous all over low-brow, right-wing radio is nothing other than poison, .................

I took a minute to pass the link to others. This is the most worrisome thing, having political disagreement is simply democracy, what is going on now is insanity. It has all been brought on by permitting pure lies and hate to go unchallenged over our airways 24/7 for YEARS! We have allowed this to happen, and now a huge chunk of our population is literally insane because of it.

In a remark extraordinary even by the standards of
conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh, the right-wing
radio heavyweight declared on his program Wednesday that the
United States needed to return to racially segregated buses.

Referring to an incident in which a white student was beaten
by black students on a bus, Limbaugh said: “I think the guy’s
wrong. I think not only it was racism, it was justifiable
racism. I mean, that’s the lesson we’re being taught here
today. Kid shouldn’t have been on the bus anyway. We need
segregated buses — it was invading space and stuff. This is
Obama’s America.”

Limbaugh’s comments came after a called complained to say that
local law enforcement said the attack probably wasn’t racially
motivated. The incident had been hyped by the conservative
Drudge Report, which posted a video of the fracas.

“Police initially said the beating of the white student by two
black students appeared to be racially motivated,” the
Associated Press wrote. “But police on Tuesday backed away
from that.”

That didn’t stop Limbaugh from making his comments Wednesday.

“In Obama’s America, the white kids now get beat up with the
black kids cheering, ‘Yay, right on, right on, right on, right
on,” Limbaugh also said. “I wonder if Obama’s going to come to
come to the defense of the assailants the way he did his
friend Skip Gates up there at Harvard.”

5. That should be all over the news

I don't know if it is or not, can't stand to watch the networks. I printed that article out for my boss, a college administrator teaching a course at the university this semester that deals with diversity. He is such a workaholic that I was telling him what had been going on with the extreme right and he literally had no idea. He is just working all the time. There are so many people out there like him that have no idea what we are facing in this country, decent people that when they figure it out are completely aghast.

3. Steve Malzberg is a THIRD TIER Michael Savage

He USED to be a sports announcer in NY, and then he got bounced down to a two hour radio show on WABC in NY. Now he's on WOR in the afternoon competing against Hanninazi and is even more marginalized. If he wasn't a Right-wing Jew, he'd be a White Supremacist.
