ACORN is just one more in the long line of people we are supposed to hate
ACORN is just the new "evil force" from which the right wing is protecting us from
and helping to keep our traditional family values safe.

The right needs somebody to hate for it's playbook to work in the past the "bad guys"
were;

Trade unions, teachers, Catholics, Jews, pinkos, educated people aka liberal professors,
gays, progressives, civil rights workers, socialists, blacks, atheists, environmentalists,
scientists, Muslims, people from San Francisco, pro health care reform people, The French,
Planned Parenthood, "the liberal media," community organizers, the Irish, and on.

BTW in Ohio the total # of bad votes that were counted because of fraudulent ACORN
voter registrations in 2008 was zero.

2. Don't forget George Soros.
Soros is not a major figure from our side, but he looms very large indeed for the wackaloons. They usually mention him in the same sentence as ACORN because, you know, they work together.

3. Let's refresh our memory of all the sensational bs ACORN has been accused of.
I remember voter fraud. In fact, Karl Rove had US Attorney David Iglesias fired because he wouldn't prosecute them. All the cases that were filed by the right wing failed miserably.

They were accused of stealing the census.

They were accused of getting millions in stimulus funds.

They were accused of causing the housing meltdown when they were the ones warning about predatory lending.

As one of the biggest community organizations in America, they are a natural target for the right wing.

5. ACORN seems to be doing a helluva job in providing fuel for that fire.
I hope this will serve as a wakeup call for them to get their act together.

carrying racist signs by saying they were a lot better than the Hippies in San Fransisco wearing nipple rings and protesting the Viet Nam war.

Demonizing the Left?

Stuck in a time warp?

Typical kinky repub have his daily sexual fantasy?

So, add gay hippies from the seventies with nipple piercings.

7. K&R
Perfectly stated.

On an aside, this summer a bear (nicknamed the Urban Phantom) was wandering around Seattle and news crews were hyping the fear in the story. In the midst of it, a fantastic wildlife agent made the following point:

http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2009235728_blackbearbox19.html

In reality, Chandler says, Urban Phantom has much more to fear from people and civilization than the other way around.

Chandler grew exasperated Monday when reporters pestered him with questions about how dangerous Urban Phantom could be. Like, maybe he'd eat children?

"This is not a public-safety issue," Chandler said. In this state, he said, "Do you know how many little kids have been eaten by a black bear?"

The wildlife agent made a "zero" with his fingers.

"You have more chance of getting run over by the KIRO news van than being eaten by a bear," the agent said.

Just so in both cases.

8. I know .... the poor bear is in more danger than any person.
In Ohio we are seeing more and more bears ..... as of yet we really don't have a reproducing
population but some are killed either by people or law enforcement "to keep the public safe.

15. Fortunately the Phantom made it back to the woods
And I think Chandler's level headed response was helpful to that happening.

The RW are trying to whip people into a frenzy in order to accomplish their goal of killing an organization that has done much good. And O'Keefe has been training to do something like this for awhile.

Not that no fraudulent (if there are any) votes were counted.

Saying no fraudulent votes were counted sound to me like a con convicted of attempted murder saying at least nobody got killed. :)

18. Thank you
my wording could have been better and maybe i should have pointed out that
ACORN by law had to turn in all registrations that were filled out even the bad ones ....
ACORN even flagged the bad ones before they were turned in.

19. Right. By law, they have to turn those forms in. And that's exactly
the kind of detail the right wing nutcase bastards elides.

21. Sadly Fox has sold that ACORN's crimes flipped the election to Obama
to a small group of people. And here in OH our Sec. of State, Jennifer Brunner,
got real death threats because some weak minded people bought into the lies
about ACORN and early voting.

ACORN gets threats all the time. That's the context they have to work in.

23. NPR "balanced" Bertha's interview by using 2 clips of Glenn Beck talking about ACORN!
...still trying to figure out if that's a negative or a positive for us. :dilemma:

Oh fuck...it's gotta be positive!!

Although, I have no doubt their inbox will be filled to capacity today!
