Protesters who attended Saturday’s Tea Party rally in Washington found a new reason to be upset: Apparently they are unhappy with the level of service provided by the subway system.

Rep. Kevin Brady asked for an explanation of why the government-run subway system didn’t, in his view, adequately prepare for this past weekend’s rally to protest government spending and government services.

Seriously.

The Texas Republican on Wednesday released a letter he sent to Washington’s Metro system complaining that the taxpayer-funded subway system was unable to properly transport protesters to the rally to protest government spending and expansion.

1. That reminds me of

voters here in San Diego County routinely voting down sales tax increases to fund in part the firefighting system, then complaining after the Cedar Fire of October 2003 that firefighting response wasn't fast enough or large enough... then continuing to vote down tax increases even after that.

and some people still argue against increasing the (state or federal) gas tax to repair infrastructure.

2. And you wanna know what's really hilarious?

Rep. Kevin Brady voted against funding for the Washington Metro system. So he's in favor of denying a "big government" project any funding, but instead of having his loyal minions all take their own personal limousines or taxis to their protest against "big government," they all want to ride on public transit. Things like this will put the Onion and other satirical publications out of business; you just can't keep up with conservatives' lack of self awareness. They are just too crazy.

4. This is their way of claiming that governments can't run transportation systems properly.

They'd complain about it no matter how well run it was. It's government run therefore, in their minds, it is by definition run poorly.

It's similar to the way they use the DMV and the Post Office as examples of poor service when in my experience they are both run very well.
