I was thinking about running for Congress, does anyone have a website with details on how the process works. How much money would need to be raised, etc.

6. "All politics is local"

No website in the world is going to help you more than talking with your local party. And if you don't know who they are at this point, you don't stand a chance. Think smaller (school board? assessor's office?), get engaged with the local Democratic Party, think about the future.

4. Ok, for starters

You need to asses the situation. How many counties in your district? Any strong party action going on among them? Will they support you and, in turn, turn out support for you? Will you be available and able to campaign throughout your district? You'll need to know the lay of the land, as it were. Do you know anyone who is in politics? Maybe party leadership in your county/Cong. Dist./state? Elected officials who might support your effort?

As to your questions, how much money you will need depends greatly on what district you're in but invariably the answer is "a lot". You can find the answers to many campaign finance questions at http://www.fec.gov/ . They are also very responsive to inquiries. I've always found them to be very helpful.
