The response doesn't have to be true. In fact, the more ridiculous, the better! (See birthers, deathers, tenthers, etc.)

Emotions, like muscles, need to be exercised, lest they atrophy.

5. The problem is, that method would validate the string pullers, thereby giving them more power.

Their victims; are living in a Matrix or bubble, they need to be unplugged, educated or enlightened, however by feeding their negative emotions with yours, the result could only be negative.

Take a look at Germany just before Hitler rose to power, there was open warfare in the streets between the ideological extremes, it still may come to that regardless of our efforts but I believe we should starve the beast; not feed it.
