2. We aren't as "there" as we were nine months ago.
The corporations and far right thought they had a lock on both the Presidency and Congress for the foreseeable future. They were over-ruled.

5. Not quite over-ruled yet. They may still get the ultimate "lock" on our future.
See Sanchez's interview with Bernie Sanders on the corporate money = free speech Supreme Court case. I believe they rule on this when they return in or around Oct 5.

3. Fascism means a good deal more than that
Most historians can't even agree on a common definition.

I will give a definite no as an answer to your question, however I will say that the GOP is far closer to being a fascist organization than the DNC is to being a socialist organization.

6. Italian fascist theorist Alfredo Rocco equated fascism with Social Darwinism...

where a strong society is one where the healthiest and most vital assert themselves against the weakest and less well adapted through conflict. Time and time again we see those most closely associated with fascism attaching themselves to anti-communist and anti-socialist movements that often become violent. The thing they seem to hate the most is a true democracy where everyone is treated as an equal and provided with equal opportunity.

The far right is starting to show its true colors in this respect. The weakest among us who would benefit the most from healthcare reform should be allowed to die, in their minds. Only those races which have been favored throughout history should be at the top, therefore, for them, Obama is an abomination.

On edit: I also should mention, for them, the government should only have to answer to the strongest, most powerful corporate concentrations of wealth.

4. Not yet. But the fascists have taken over the GOP.
If they have their way, we will be there soon.

7. I like Mussolini's better
and I think he should know

I mean he spoke about mixing the interests of the corporations and the state...

That is what he called corporatism.

And if the USSC rules in a certain way, we are there... right now we are close

8. fascism is much more, however
Even some socialists advocate corporatism although they see it as the state controlling the corporation rather than the other way around. The end result is the same which is the marriage of the two.

9. Of course, it never is that simple
:-)

But I usually refer to the designer of the system

Also a fascist country does not necessary have an obvious police state... and we have had many flavors, just not the Nazis. The American form will be closer to a dictablanda... after all we need to keep the illusion.

10. I would say, "no".
We're not anywhere near fascist...although both parties (Democrat and Republican) exhibit fascist tendencies from time to time.
