Is Mickey Rourke a Wingnut?
He was on Hannity last night as part of their panel. Overall, he didn't say much of substance, but he's pals with another panelist -- some obnoxious right-wing country singer whose name I mercifully forget. Rourke did say a few things like "I really don;t c are what Jimmy Carter has to say."...And asked which "team" newsman Charlie Gibson is on (i.e. ;liberal or conservative)

I was rooting for the guy to get the Oscar for the Wrestler....Kind of a bummer if he's a wingnut.

2. He was on Insannity? That kind of says it all right there.
He's not a politician "discussing" an issues. Most likely, he is. Years of hard drugs will do that to you.

3. Be wary of celebrities spouting opinions.
Especially uninformed celebrities.

4. I used to like Charlton Heston
Then I found out that he is nothing like the parts he played. He was really just a dmaned dirty ape in human clothing.

5. He said this about Bush:
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 11:00 PM by Jennicut
“President Bush was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I don”t know how anyone could have handled this situation… I dont give a f**k who’s in office, Bush or whoever, there is no simple solution to this problem… I’m not one of those who blames Bush for everything. This s**t between Christians and Muslims goes back to the Crusades, doesn’t it.” It was about 9/11 and Bush's wars.

He has said in the past he is not very politically savvy. I would say he is a conservative but not a very bright one....then again, none of them are!

7. He sounds like he has a little bit of
information and makes judgment calls. Just basic stuff..no investigation much less thorough.

He should know..hannity is playing him.

8. The Crusades thing always make me laugh
Edited on Thu Sep-17-09 11:10 PM by rpannier
The Arab/North African forces invaded present day Spain in the 8th-9th Century.
The Battle at Tours happened during the time of Charlemagne
There have been problems between the Christians and the Muslims for over a millennium.

However, there have also been good relations during that time -- usually European and Arabic merchants

6. I don't really care one way or the other, to be honest.
Unless an actor/celebrity really puts themselves out there politically (a la Curt Shilling) I don't mind what they believe. Rourke is an outstanding actor and that's all I'll judge him on for now. If he repeatedly goes out of his way to spout Right Wing nuttery I'll care, but just a few comments here or there won't make me not like him as an actor. He's been good for a long time, and seeing him in The Wrestler was a treat.

9. I think he's just fried....
I watched too. I was trying to figure out why some people have to wear hats when inside and heard the dribble from the redneck hat act, but then Mickey marble-mouthed something that appeared to give Sean a tiny hard-on.

Bzzzzt...
