4. He is a hero among the lunatics. If he will start softening his ideas -
it was suggested here that he supports the Public Option - this should rattle them.

On the other hand, he probably realizes that he cannot compete with Beck.

43. It's not too much to ask people to communicate so somebody can...
understand it without wasting time parsing and splitting and trying to figure out what the hell they're saying because the reader can't tell where the thought divisions are. People who waste my time and force me to do all the work to understand their pseudocommunication annoy me.

64. Sounds possible.
Edited on Sat Sep-19-09 12:12 AM by optimal-tomato
I wouldn't be surprised to see O'Reilly move to CNN and take Campbell Brown's slot (so he can continue to go up against and maybe beat Olbermann) and have Brown move up an hour to take Dobbs' spot. Dobbs has been an embarrassment to CNN lately and his numbers are sagging, so they'd probably want to keep Brown instead.

If this happens, then unfortunately MSNBC might slip back to the #3 spot in that hour (they've dominated CNN in the demo for over a year now). O'Reilly acts more like a independent (so he can fit CNN's self-ascribed "middle-of-the-road" status) and CNN gets to gloat about beating Olbermann again. It's a really good move for CNN.

For Fox, the loss of O'Reilly will hurt them some, as many will migrate to CNN, but any moron they put in that slot will get high ratings. Fox viewers are like zombies who can't figure out how to change the channel. Just look at Greta van Susteren. She's the top-rated show in her time slot and she looks like a foot.** Beck would probably take O'Reilly's slot and bring his craziness up a notch, but he'll have to be careful, his sponsors may be more sensitive to criticism with him as the flagship show of Fox. Meghan Kelly gets Beck's old slot and quickly loses his audience, but no one cares.

For MSNBC, it means that Keith is up against Beck, O'Reilly, and Nancy Grace. Beck and O'Reilly may continue to dominate the time slot, or possibly Beck and O'Reilly split the crazies, and the rational viewers migrate (even more) to MSNBC.

I sort of hope it happens, but really doubt it will. It would shake up an already interesting rivalry.

** Family Guy reference...
