If Bush had proposed a healthcare reform bill with a public option, how would the GOP react? |
|
I know, that's silly. Still, it makes you wonder!

1. If you oppose this bill, then you are a traitor to America, and you want the terrorists to win |
|

I can't remember who said it, but I do remember that a Republican congressman really did say that if we didn't go along with Bush's scheme to privatize social security, then we would look weak and divided to the terrorists.

7. Right, a provision would have prohibited the government from negotiating what can be charged. |
|
Either by insurance companies or health care providers.

4. if bush had proposed such a bill, it would be named the patriotic healthcare |
|
national security bill. they would have stayed on message no matter what and as another person on this thread replied, anyone against it would be called a traitor and unpatriotic.

5. They would have crucified him |
|
Seriously.
You might not want to believe it but a lot of the right wing was very unhappy with Bush and his fiscal policy. The call McCain a liberal..
I'm surrounded by them in my life, and they only really blindly supported Bush due to the wars and religious stance. They criticize him harshly on almost everything else.
Kinda like we do for Obama not standing his ground on a public option.

12. You just saw one last week |
|
Most of the teabaggers are quite against the bailout of wall street. And auto companies etc. too.
They would either have been ok with the banks failing, or think it would have been best.
Their outlook was let them fail, let the system do what it does and others take their place. Regardless of the cost to the economy.
That bailing them out was the death of the free market.

14. I think they've forgotten all about Bush's giveaway and they've |
|
been re-programmed by the Legion of Liars (Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity, O'Reilly, Coulter, et al) to only see Obama's stimulus package.

They'd be taking some serious heat from RW pundits & their voters, but I'm sure they got very used to it over the past 8 years.

8. I think they would have finally had him put down. |
|
I don't care how much they stick together. Pukes will never willingly give money to create a government run health agency.
They think they are being treated unfairly when the government helps the poor. They would have had him bumped off and pinned it on the "libruls".

9. They'd be falling all over themselves to |

get face time to tell everybody how great the plan is. But on the other hand, the repigs have almost never passed a bill that helps the ordinary people so it probably would have never happened anyway.

11. He did-- (medicare part D) a bonanza for the corporates, a pain for people |
|
And forced people to vote for it or else!
They held the (15 minute limit) vote open until 3 in the morning, twisting arms until it finally got the votes to pass.
They threatened one member that they'd withhold funding for his son, who was running for Congress.
They made another member , a female, cry. What did they threaten her with? She was the last holdout.

and he would not have been re-elected in 2004. Almost all on the right do not like mandates of any kind.
