Shoe-thrower flown out of Iraq
Source: Pak Tribune

Muntadhar al-Zeidi, the television reporter jailed for throwing his shoes at George Bush, the former US president, has left Iraq after being released from prison.

He flew to Syria on a private jet on Tuesday, before heading to Greece where he will undergo medical treatment, Uday al-Zeidi, one of his brothers, said.

Uday al-Zeidi said his brother had been hiding after making remarks to the press the same day, "because we fear for his life".

Speaking shortly after leaving jail, Muntadhar al-Zeidi, 30, said he had been tortured while in prison and demanded that Nouri al-Maliki, the Iraqi prime minister, apologise for withholding information about his treatment.

...

"Muntadhar will go to Greece for medical treatment, because he was injected with unknown chemical drugs and he suffers from a continuous headache," Haidar al-Zeidi, his cousin, said.

The aircraft flying al-Zeidi to Damascus, the Syrian capital, was chartered by the chief executive of his employer, Al-Baghdadiya television.

The Iraqi's under our instructions, of course, inject chemicals into a prisoner that they torture. How is that any less sociopathic than all the Saddam is so mean crap?

5. Chemical torture? Didn't Saddam's thugs do this, too?
At the "White Lion" prison, torturers are alleged to have poured some unknown chemical irritant on the flesh of their victims while they were held down in a crude basin. All I know is that the torturer wore a gas mask and gloves while doing this, so it must've been some nasty stuff, indeed.

It's so nice to know things in Iraq have changed for the better...

6. I hope he's as big a hero in Greece
as he is with all people who hated the last regime.

I am still in awe of this man's courage.

7. It took great courage to do what he did.
I hope he lives to write a book about the situation. Glad to see, at least, that he's out of Iraq.
