"American Made tee shirt made in Mexico"......
This is an article in our local union paper so I don't have a link but I thought it important enough to post here.

"American Made" tee shirt IS made in Mexico, J.C. Penny's says it's meant to show pride in America
by Rich Kline

Most of us would assume that a tee shirt lettered "American Made" across it's chest would be made in America. But that's not the case with J.C.Penney's tee shirt so decorated. It's made in Mexico.
When a 78_year-old retired clothing manufacturer discovered this canard he was incensed. It seems that Joe Allen's company was driven out of business by unfair foreign competition.
Allen brought the matter to the attention of Alliance for American Manufacturing which contacted J.C.Penny. Penney's spokesperson replied to the AAM that "American Made" refers to the wearer of the garment, not the shirt. J.C. Penney told Business Week the shirt will remain on the store shelves throughout the summer.Penney's says the tee is "intended to evoke our American lifestyle and pride in being American." Huh?
If you want to share your views on this with J.C. Penney, please call Kelly Sanchez at 972-431-3961 email- ksanchez18@jcpenny.com or if you prefer contact Myron Ullman, J.C. Penney CEO at 972-431-8200.

20. I have to say though, my cultural bias counters that desire.
I can envision highly regimented Chinese factories with stringent quality control. The fact that China produces so much junk doesn't mean that they don't also produce high quality high end stuff. I have this cultural bias which sees the Chinese worker as a cousin of the Japanese worker well known for a culture of workplace dedication. I simply don't see Mexico and Mexican workers the same way. I think of them as being more like us- good workers to a point but not willing to be ridden like the Chinese or Japanese worker.

Mexico is in the Americas. The same America (North) as the US and Canada.

9. America is the traditional short form for the United States of America. Mexico is the traditional...
... short form for the United States Of Mexico.

Mexico is in North America, it is in The Americas, it is not in America.

You do know what "technically" means, right?

And you do realize when you point out things that everyone knows it doesn't make you look better, right?

And if you don't believe it, then Google "United Statesers" , "USians" , or some other bullshit. It's disrespectful to my country and my people, so if I make a small fool of myself in repeating my little objection every time some asshole tries this crap, then it doesn't bother me, Sherlock.

I guess you thought your post was clever, I didn't.

Every time I bump into you, you say something obvious in an attempt to look more clever or insightful than others who do indeed know more than you about a great many things. They're small little things that scream "Right Winger". Like the little "disrespectful to my country and my people" as if someone designated you the fucking spokesman for all citizens of the United States and thereby within rights to play nationalistic fuckwit. It's kind of sad really. But like most DLCers...you belong on the other side fixing their pathetic excuse for a party and adding some form of sanity to their rambling jackassery.

It's fail. Sherlock.

You add nothing to the conversation here however. That's why you are the on my small list of ignore from here on in...

and a parting gift:

10. We should write and compliment JC Penney
For admitting the Mexicans are Americans.

That should get those tee shirts off the shelves.

Edited on Fri Sep-18-09 02:34 PM by Pharlo
manufactured goods as 'American made' as the US does. Look for a 'Made in the USA' or 'Made in the US' label in future to avoid such misunderstandings.
