Conservative Christians assail Obama agenda
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. conservative Christians, a key base for the out-of-power Republican Party, gathered in Washington on Friday to rally the faithful against President Barack Obama's agenda, including his top domestic priority of healthcare reform.

Obama's falling poll numbers and what they depict as his ultra-liberal views on abortion rights, healthcare and climate change are galvanizing a group that could prove vital to Republican prospects of taking back control of Congress in the 2010 congressional elections or the White House in 2012.

Conservative activists see exploitable opportunities in Obama's policies and performance that also can stir more centrist voters, such as suspicions of "big government" and the almost uniquely American skepticism of global warming that prevails in much of the heartland.

"The idea that the healthcare plan takes away choice and freedom, people see their liberties at risk," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, the conservative Christian lobby group organizing the summit of self-styled "values voters."

The Family Research Council also claims "Obamacare" will lead to federal funding for abortion -- an allegation hotly disputed by the president and his supporters -- and Perkins told Reuters on the sidelines of the conference that this issue went "beyond the ranks of the pro-life movement."

There needs to be a full scale attack on them that goes on for decades until they're no longer a problem.

15. Blowing up people with government ordinance is pro-Christian...
...healing them with goverment insurance is anti-Christian. It's right there in the Book of Reagan, Chapter 5, Verses 1-16. Right before declaring ketchup a vegetable.

20. You know. I've yet to hear these groups say what's so non-Christian about health care
Their complaint seems to be totally based on reasons that have no grounding in any religious teachings.

23. Fastest route to heaven is to die early
Longer life means it takes longer to reach heaven

Die early thanks to crap healthcare and you hit the jackpot.

There are a lot of "Christians" with a severely warped view of their religion, have a look at Mother Teresa & the criticism about her

From wikipedia

David Scott wrote that Mother Teresa limited herself to keeping people alive rather than tackling poverty itself.<33> She has also been criticized for her view on suffering: according to an article in the Alberta Report, she felt that suffering would bring people closer to Jesus.

6. Obama's falling poll numbers?
Jesus Christ, the msm sure can run with a meme and make it a self-fulfilling prophecy.

No, Obama's numbers are just fine. The majority of people in this country are with him and trust him to do this reform.

I don't get WHERE the hell is says in the bible that no national government should get involved in savings people's lives through a nationalized universal health care system. Somehow God did not smite down Europe or Japan for instituting national health care.

God, we just need to stop being held hostage by these fucking idiots. It makes me so angry that they want to dictate policy on the basis of their misreading of the bible. Frank Schaeffer is right. I have tried so hard to be tolerant, but my tolerance ends when this is a life and death matter. We should not allow the village idiot, the fundamentalist Christian right, to dictate policy. Fuck them. They need to stay out of this debate altogether. Why the fuck do they retain their 501c3 status if they are generating specific political policy responses to political issues and taking sides in a partisan way?

And all this outrage and handwringing over all the millions of dead babies. Fuck that too. To them a 2 cell zygote has more rights than a fully born human being who can suffer and die without our help. They would rather save these potential human beings, but after they are born, oh well, survival of the fittest. Such fucking hypocrites, no compassion at all.

Okay, rant over. God, I try so hard not to stoop down to their level and hate, but I am sick of our public discourse giving these people undue influence. They ARE the village idiots who base everything on a sick and twisted view of the bible. They have no facts, no reality based arguments on their side.

8. Rants are okay
There are times when we'll have to get in the mud and fight them, but remember that the difference between us and them is that we can stand up, get out of that mud, and know that we did the right thing for the right reasons.

They never leave the mud pit, because it's what they are.

their congregations to provide every thing, house, car, health care, etc. for them but they do not want the members of their congregation to have the same. Sorry bunch of self serving bastards.

part of their wages and considered their due. I do not think things have changed that much since then. Lutheran by the way.

12. The Tony Perkins Version of the Bible:
Edited on Fri Sep-18-09 11:35 AM by OswegoAtheist
Matthew 4:23 - And Jesus went about all Galilee, collecting speaking fees from their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the Republican Party, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people, save those who were uninsured, had pre-existing conditions (known or unknown), failed to fill out their insurance applications 100% correctly, or were in Galilee illegally.

Matthew 9:2 - And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing that he was sick of the palsy; Son, understand this; thy condition preventeth thee from being of the insured, as it was of the pre-existing.

Matthew 9:12 - But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, and shall be given unto them the insurance, but they that are sick are clearly too lazy to pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Matthew 14:14 - And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, but was moved with campaign donations from the Pharisees, and he healed their sick not.

Is that some kind of English? It's not even a sentence...a complete thought.

And of course where did they get the idea that the HCP takes way their choice and freedom? It's about creating choice! Or at least it was when the PO was strong.
