1. He needs to find a few ways to distance himself from Hannity and Limbaugh

this one is quite clever.

He has the facts on his side and he knows that it will get him tremendous press coverage.

And - he can say he is for competition - why are the companies against it.

O'Reilly can be a clever strategist from time to time.

2. He's mentioned this before the current debate heated up.
BillO seems to have no love for the corporations. I doubt he'll recant on the public option.
