Antigay Mass. Senate Candidate Posed Nude
http://www.advocate.com/article.aspx?id=98654

Massachusetts Republican state senator Scott Brown is running for the late Ted Kennedy's U.S. Senate seat on a fiscally conservative, antigay ticket. Wonder if he felt so conservative when he bared all for Cosmo in 1982?

A Republican candidate for the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the late Edward M. Kennedy posed nude for Cosmopolitan in 1982. State senator Scott Brown, who announced his long-shot bid for the seat on Saturday, is known around the state as a social and fiscal -- but apparently not a physical -- conservative.

Brown, the father of American Idol contestant Ayla Brown, posed for the nude centerfold when he was a 22-year-old law student at Boston College. He won Cosmo’s “America’s Sexiest Man” title, which included a $1,000 prize, according to Newsweek.

6. Well, as a photographer, I kind of hate the idea that this would be used against him.
I'd love for this country to get over its hang-ups about nudity, especially nudity in art. This is obviously an example of commercial "beefcake" rather than "art" but everyone's naked under their clothes, and I wish it wasn't considered a morally dubious act to pose nude. (Or for that matter, photograph nude figures.)

Not supporting his anti-gay or conservative positions. But I think those should be reason enough for him to be defeated, while his nude photos should be a non-issue.

9. Right, and being a Republican with backwards ideas ought to be enough for him to lose.
I'm just saying that posing nude shouldn't be considered a character flaw, by either side, although I know I'll probably never live to see the day when the US catches up with the rest of the civilized world in that respect.

Sarkozy's wife Carla Bruni posed nude a number of times during her modeling career, and he's wildly popular. If it came out that Michelle Obama had done that in her youth (or Obama in his), not only would Obama never have been elected President here, I doubt he'd have made it to Congress.

11. It has nothing to do with photography
Rethugs will do anything for money. These moral crusaders want to tell everyone else how to live while posing nude for money. This has zippo to do with nudity as art. He is another Rethug hypocrite.
