NPR is covering the Values Voters Forum |
|
One woman interviewed said that she feels like Goliath. She feels people like her are strong and, I suppose, gigantic.
Unfortunately, she appears to be biblically illiterate. For those of you not familiar, Goliath was a great warrior of the Philistines, who was killed by future king of Israel David, killed by a stone flung from a sling.
So she wants to compare herself and her cohorts as a giant killed by the good guy. Oh, and that means she must think of herself as a Philistine, once a native of the southern coast of Canaan, but now viewed as "a person deficient in the culture of the liberal arts, or a smug and intolerant opponent of the bohemian, one who exhibits a restrictive moral code" (thanks to Wikipedia!).
I think she is absolutely correct!
