Can anyone tell me what happens to employees of non-profits under all the new health care plans |
|
that are being proposed?
I worked for nonprofits all my life and only those that had a big enough budget could afford health care plans for their employees. The little ones could not. What kind of plan would both the large and the small nonprofit organization have? Obviously, the nonprofits would not have any tax issue, but how would it work?

1. I can walk you through it if you have the Rosetta stone on you |
|
Just point me to one of the numerous bills you were interested in examining, and we can fire up to decoder rings and go at it for a few days

3. That's about it, isn't it. |

I don't remember any campaign promises from Obama about supplying the decoder rings - becuz one of his big promises was that he would insist on transperency for all the legislation. No more big huge bills that no one could read because of some emergency. He was going to see to it that there was a five day period between the issuance of a bill and the vote on it.
And then he got elected and sworn in, and his Evil Twin obviously never got the memo. The stimulus bill was a huge big mother, and no one had time to read it, cuz it was an emergency and all.
The health care bill Waxman's committee worked on was 1,000 pages plus. I imagine that Baucus' bill is the same, in terms of length.

2. It depends on the size of the organization, I'd imagine. |

I haven't heard anything specifically about non-profits.
With my organization we have Kaiser. That's it.

7. You or your employer will have to buy insurance. If your employer doesn't, |
|
you'll have to...or be fined. The public option would be the most affordable way to do this, if it's offered. If not, you'll buy from a private insurance company.
The Baucus plan, if unamended, would offer health co-ops, but these don't look to be very practical.
