I try my best to be a rational, emotionally detached person when it comes to American politics |

But, just about any exposure to right wing lies and their charged rhetoric is really hard to take.
Of course, that's exactly what they want.
Their language is designed to get people off their game.
Hatred, fear, anger... They want you to embrace these things, because that's the stuff that shuts down the higher brain functions like rationality.
Of course, the folks who are the most susceptible to their language are the people who aren't comfortable with rational thought at all. We saw a lot of that last weekend.
If I want to continue to be a person who cares about American politics, I have to continue to observe those right wing motherfuckers.
It's not the only thing I do, thank the Goddess. I can block them out.
I'm also an Internet DJ.
Yay music!

You are quite often the voice of reason in an otherwise stormy sea of bile, and I, for one, appreciate it.

3. I try to be an angry liberal who gets in the face of every right wing asshole I can |
|
and am very comfortable with it
It kinda freaks them out, the idea that a "middle class white male" will go nuts on them just for telling a lie.
I like it, and I sleep well because of it. I am also guessing that some of them lose sleep because of it.
You must embrace your anger Luke, it makes you strong

I see what you mean, it takes every ounce of willpower I have just to read the news nowadays because I know I am going to have to go through so much crap. It is also not the fact that the rights rhetoric merely exists that pisses me off, but rather the fact that it is able to be injected onto the national stage and discussed as if it were in any way reasonable.
I agree that a lot of their language is used to tune out people with functioning minds. They figure if it sounds too stupid, a lot of people will just disregard and not even think about it.
