CNN Hosts Who Suck at 'Jeopardy' for $500

Posted Sep 18th 2009 11:32AM by TMZ Staff

Wolf Blitzer -- one of the most decorated hard-news reporters on the planet -- got his ass handed to him on "Jeopardy" last night ... by a comedian's sidekick.

By the end of Double Jeopardy, Blitzer racked up an impressive NEGATIVE $4,600 -- after swinging and missing on brain-busters like King David and Jesus both hailed from this town. Wolf said "Jerusalem" ... the correct answer is Bethlehem.

On one of the few Wolf got right, Alex belatedly took it back -- because Wolf's answer, "Julia Childs" had an errant "S."

3. Andy's got quite a pedigree:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andy_Richter#Early_life_and_career

Richter, the second of four children, was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His mother, Glenda Swanson, was a kitchen cabinet designer, and his father, Laurence R. Richter, taught Russian at Indiana University, for more than 32 years.

Not to mention, his dry wit is excellent. Quite the shocker (no, not really) that Wolf ended up in the hole!!

5. And he was NONE too happy about it!
I saw the last half, and the further back he got, the more he sulked and the funnier it got. They really were low ball questions for the most part, but Andy Richter impressed me. It was so bad Alex Trebek made some "Andy's quick on the trigger" excuse. That's how you know the humiliation is complete, btw. Nothing against Blitzer (not much for him either, frankly) but it was reeeeeaaaaaallllyyyy satisfying.

Isn't that the truth - and I hate him so it was really really satisfying.

If I used Twitter I'd send him the following: Was Julia Child(s) from Bethlehem or Jerusalem?

7. By contrast, some other cable news hosts do quite well on the show.

Won $20,000 for charity when he went on in 2004.

Just sayin'.

8. Ignorance gets you a "zero" on Jeopardy. Being positively disinformed gets you negatives.
That's the takeaway from this disgrace for me. If Wolf had simply not known anything he would have stood like a bump on a log and not buzzed and ended up with zero.

Instead his head is stuffed with wrong information, disinformation and misinformation which is on display on CNN every day, which Jeopardy simply objectively exposed.

CNN should be mortified by his performance.

10. Well said.
Wolf's responses were so far out in left field, it was obvious that he's well rehearsed at spewing out crap and not thinking the slightest about what he's saying.

He should have just pretended to have a slow trigger thumb, but he was too arrogant to do that.

12. Wolf is useless without his cue cards and prompter
Seriously someone could answer any question from Wolf with
"Well Wolf truth be told I love wearing lacy women's underwear when I shop at Kroger's"

and Wolf would look down at his notes and say "Let me ask you about the economy...."

18. Maria Bartiroma is dumber than dirt. We already knew that, didn't we?
In the first round, she got two questions correct. The answer to one of them was "The Simpsons."

Good news! No questions were asked regarding Social Security.
