Did anybody see the disturbing video from the Family Values
meeting or whatever it's called? They showed a choir singing a song to the tune of God Bless America with the words changed to fit the Extreme Right-Wing Agenda called "Why should God Bless America". Does anyone have a link to the video? It was very strange and scary. I see no good coming from all this in the near future, I fear a Civil War or Civil unrest coming soon.

1. I saw that.
They're all about flag-waving until a Dem is in office then they wanna throw the baby out with the bathwater. Obama's only been President for 8-9 months, imagine what they're going to be like by 2012!

6. Rachel Maddow played it on her show
Check YouTube, and I'm sure you'll be able to find it.

How is that song any different from Rev. Wright saying, "God damn America"?

Oh, yeah...there's no difference at all.

RW hypocrites!

12. I am so sick of the right wing claiming a monopoly on patriotism
Our candidates in the next election should use this footage to call out the repugs on THEIR 'un-Americanism'!

15. What the Hatriots and Teabaggers practice is Nationalism, not Patriotism.
They're Authoritarians, and don't even know it. Their self-appointed leaders are mentally, morally and ethically deficient and personally weak, but that stolid 19% see only strength, resolve and justice. But you can't argue with a dining room table.

As I inferred in a post yesterday, President Obama can go on prime-time and speak coherently, intelligently and knowledgeably on the issues we're dealing with for an hour at a stretch. In contrast, the majority of Republicans get sound-bites, a spot at a round-table discussion or, at most, ten minutes of one-on-one with a very friendly interviewer holding a script. They've got nothing of substance to talk about and their current shtick is to simply oppose anything the Democrats propose. Too much exposure, and they're shown to be ignorant, petty, vindictive and wholly uninformed. All they've got is "Whatever it takes to prevent this President and this Congress from having a win or looking competent."

Ask a Republican who opposes cutting the science fiction missile shield in Eastern Europe HOW it's going to threaten the security of Europe and their best answer will likely be "because it will". No matter how much money we throw at it, it'll probably never work, but just the same, it's a vital international security issue for the Republics because THIS President sees it for what it is - an incredibly expensive, unworkable and antagonistic holdover from BushCo*. Same with health care reform. They know the people back home are suffering, yet oppose the insurance industry written package that Bacaus just dropped in their laps because, even it it's what their handlers (the insurance companies) want, any bill that passes this Congress (no matter how shitty) would be points for the (D)s.

Then again, maybe it IS us.

Nah.

14. I was trying to think of what this reminded me of, and you hit the nail on the head!
Thanks!

Somehow it's treasonous for Wright to say "God damn America!" because he thinks it did wrong, and anyone who ever so much as sat in his church can't be trusted to be our president. but if these people question why God should bless America because they think it has done wrong, that's OK!

5. That was EXACTLY my thought. When Rev. Wright was talking like this,
they were apoplectic.

11. Everything associated with those lunatics is disturbing
video. They needed that choir - it has more black people than we'll see during their entire wingnut gathering.

13. +1 There's lots of room for more tension.
The Right hasn't even dialed it up to the level of Code-Pink, ELF, ALF, WTO or the antiwar movement, yet.

They haven't started "burning down the missions" or bombing yet. I expect they're going to want their "pound of flesh".

16. Wrong interpretation. I saw this on Rachel's show last night. She was actually
mocking Huckabee. This was a choir that sang before one of the Republican debates (I know--crazy!) and she was saying why didn't Huckabee criticize this song. It was bizarre.

I'm in a hurry. Hope this makes sense!
