I just dreamed the President died.
Edited on Sun Sep-20-09 01:45 PM by Mortos
I work night shift and went to sleep at 9 am, I awoke with my heart pounding in my chest and that terrible feeling of being snatched from a deep sleep into the fight or flight mode.

In my dream I was watching the news on television as they were covering a visit from President Obama to some foreign country. There was a long shot of a castle and he was standing on a high wall addressing a gathered crowd. As I was watching this and the news anchors droned on about something, I saw him lean over the wall and then lose his balance as he tumbled over and fell. It took a moment for the newscasters to realize what had happened and then there was panic as they began to show the clip of him falling over and over.

Then I was jolted awake just like when I fall from a great height in a dream and the point of impact jerks me back to consciousness with a heart pounding thud. I sat up and looked around my darkened room trying to figure out if my fear was real or imagined and immediately went into the other room to turn on the television to confirm it was only a dream. Fortunately, professional football player faces greeted me.

I am afraid for our President. Not because of my dream, but because there is a faction of people who want to see him die. There is a group of powerful influential people who stoke up the emotions of gullible ignorant people by calling him a nazi, a socialist, a communist and say that he is tearing apart and destroying America. They equate him to a terrorist and we all know what they want to do to terrorists, real or imagined.

These people are dangerous to our country. They represent a clear and present threat to the life of our President. The Rush Limbaughs, Glen Becks, Sean Hannitys of this world are pushing for someone to take matters into their own hands and do their dirty work for them and someone eventually will. It only took Bill O'reilly 3 years to push an unbalanced man to kill Dr. George Tiller. How long will it take the 24 hour daily vilification of our President to produce the same result?

Be safe Mr. President.

1. My dreams are less impressionistic. He would be shot by a gun nut at one of his public events. nt

2. I have to admit that everytime as watch this President speak to a crowd,
I imagine what you have described. In fact, I have to tell myself that I am being too fearful....as I imagine the worse and try to push it away......but still, as I discount my worse nightmare for this presidency, in the back of my mind, the (s/b) unthinkable scenario continues like a movie that I do not really want to see, but am watching from a front row seat. It is not a good feeling....and it makes me afraid for my country. What is worse is that this means that I am also afraid of my country.

3. I fear for him. How sad is it that citizens of our Country are such hate spewing idiots.
If something happens to him I fear the worst for our Government. There is no doubt that if the Republicans gain control again, it is all over forever for this Country. The planet already cannot take it. If I didn't have so many pets, I would be out of here asap. This Country makes me very very sad.

5. Now I can't go back to sleep
My first thought; he was pushed. I do the same thing. I scan the crowd wondering if someone got past security especially when he is in a public place or out of the bubble of the White House. I worry about Michelle and the kids too. If something does happen to him, our country will explode. I think it will lead to a low level civil war with retaliatory acts on both sides.

13. I feel the same way.
I can work anywhere in the world, but I'm staying here because of pets and my husband's job. But if repukes do return to power in their present incarnation, we're off to Canada.

21. That is what I am thinking also. Don't know how I would get 10 pets in though.
Maybe four trips or so.

4. I saw him in person in Philly at an Arlen Specter event last Tuesday.

I THANKED the Secret Service guys that were operating the metal detector and went through my purse.

I said, "thank you for keeping him safe; we worked too hard to get him elected and we need him too much to lose him."

8. The Secret Service must be going nuts with all the
Right Wing nuts who insist on bring guns to places where the President is going to be. They claim to be asserting their 4th amendment rights. With the hate being spouted by the commentators on Fox and such, I am afraid it is just a matter of time before one of their listeners tries to do something really stupid. Then of course the said commentators will claim innocence in the matter.

12. I just canceled an unrec. Just "my thing" lately.
I think many of us are sharing the awful anxiety that goes along with wanting something so badly not to happen and being plagued by thought that it might happen. And the hellish depths that would plunge our country and our future into should the unthinkable occur, especially to this President. Guess it's a time to all hold hands, spiritually speaking, and pray/send up positive affirmations with all our hearts!

I was born in Oklahoma many long years ago, meaning my folks were from there, and one of those "southern sayings" I heard a lot from my mom was, if you have a nightmare, don't tell someone about it before breakfast or it might come true. You know, I'm sure that's just some old wives tale, but my whole life I've never shared a bad dream before breakie, or at least my morning coffee. Not sure what that has to do with anything, but just to be on the safe side, maybe you should throw some salt over your left shoulder. I know, silly!

Blessings to you and everyone who cares about our country's future!

16. Fear of seeing their worst fears posted? fear of self-fulfilling prophesy?
Frankly it is disturbing to log in and see this as the very first thread, as just happened to me (though I did not unrec it)---not saying you shouldn't post it, but it is disturbing.

7. I'm sorry
to hear of your terrible nightmare; I hope your sleep will be ok.

I purposely avoid the MSM, but the excerpts I see, and first-hand reports I read of here, fill me with disgust and disillusionment. What passes for "news" or "political discourse" now reads like a bad poli sci novel, or an unsupervised, out-of-control junior high school detention hall. Unfortunately, though, these characters are real and armed. I think the ugliness has always been there, but what's larger now is the open corporate and government sponsorship of these nuts.

If I believed in God, I would ask him to help us. May you, our President, and all of us be safe.

9. If you haven't had precognitive dreams in the past, you shouldn't be so worried. Usually
the main character in the dream is yourself. You could be Obama, falling helplessly. Are there things in your life right now that are making you feel helpless, in free fall?

10. Did he seem exhausted or tired in your dream?
I had a similar dream. It involved him collapsing from being very tired.

You had a bad dream. I had one last night too. I dreamed I was still married to my ex-wife. Drink a glass of smooth wine and go back to bed.

15. But then I think of it this way . . .
. . . are these idiots so stupid to martyr who they hate?

We're at a point where we see how anyone with even a remotely progressive idea gets lambasted by the corporate politburo media and instantly made a target for their drooling short-fused followers. Should they cross that bridge, I believe modern America would no longer stand for or tolerate it, and you'd see catastrophic results.

You'd only see further erosion of freedoms (something conservatives rail against to begin with), race and class conflicts, white supremacist groups being hunted and shot and the PTB laughing their asses off the entire way.

18. Dreams are just dreams. They can reflect your fears, hope, or what you ate.
I am not worried about Obama because he may just be the most protected head of state in the free world. I'm not worried about the nutjobs carrying guns because the sharpshooters already have them in their sights. Worry about the ones who are carrying hidden weapons. If something happens it most likely will not hurt Obama, but some other official or innocent bystander. If anything like this happens and it is connected to the Hatriots, then the Republican Party will be made to suffer greatly from public opinion because most voters in this country who do not identify as Democrats are not part of the wacky 25%ers.

19. I dreamed last night that Obama made a rousing speech
that totally changed the way the banks were bailed out.

I can't remember the details, but it was very populist in tone and didn't favor the bankers themselves at all.

I woke up totally psyched and didn't realize it was just a dream until I turned on the teevee.
