Yes, I am effectively talking about tax cuts for the lower and middle income brackets, but preferably given as a rebate directly to the employer, with a phase in to full credit at 75K and a full phase out at 150K. This program would expire at a definite date.

I'd much rather our stimulus be used to create jobs directly than to play games giving our money to some corporate fat cat on the hopes that they may or may not create jobs.

5. Actually, the dealership that we bought our car from is now on furlough
because there are no more cars to sell.

Cash for Clunkers did create net new jobs, but at a very high price tag. But in all actuality, most of the money from Cash for Clunkers and auto buyers went to pay for the materials used to build the cars.

Republicans took it out. They did expand the Work Opportunity Tax Credit to include veterans and another category of unemployed youth though.

6. I have an idea.
Turn in the "corrupt" idiots that got us into this mess, who get millions in bonuses for bringing the country to near collapse, and put in people who will do the work right! Send the "clunker" CEO's to prison, kind of like sending clunker cars to the scrap heap! We could also add "congress" to the list, and send the "clunkers" who keep helping the corporations instead of the american public to jail so they can share a cell with some of the "CEO's" who lined their pockets and helped to create the mess we are in.
